India batter Sarfaraz Khan remains hopeful of reclaiming his spot in the Test team despite being sidelined for an extended period. After missing out on the Sri Lanka tour, the 28-year-old dropped a cryptic post on social media. Led by Shubman Gill, the Indian Test squad has already flown to Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series, which will be followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is. They are currently undergoing their final preparations for the red-ball assignments with a three-day warm-up game against Sri Lanka Cricket XI. The first India vs Sri Lanka Test is scheduled to begin on August 15.
Sarfaraz Khan Sends Strong Message To Selector
The talented batter last time donned the whites for India in 2024, featuring in a home Test series against New Zealand. Sarfaraz impressed with his consistency. He registered 171 runs in six innings, but following that series, he was unable to secure a place in the Indian Test team.
As India continue their run in the 2025-27 WTC cycle, Sarfaraz pledged to work hard to make a comeback for the national team. Reflecting his mindset was a recent Instagram story, where the Chennai Super Kings star wrote, “I may not fit in, but I’ll fight with everything I’ve got.”
“New Chapter Jersey 2,” he added, drawing reference to the sports drama “Jersey”, originally a Telugu film, which also has a Hindi remake.

India’s Squad for Test series vs Sri Lanka
The Indian Test squad for the Sri Lanka tour didn’t have a lot of surprises, except for Ravindra Jadeja, who finally returns to the fold. Star pacer Jasprit Bumrah, however, has been ruled out with an injury, as Auqib Nabi was included as a replacement. Meanwhile, all-rounder Washington Sundar is part of the squad, but won’t be available for selection in the first Test.
