The World no.5 Indian duo have been pushed hard in the knockout stages, needing three games in both their quarterfinal and semifinal matches. In the quarterfinals, Satwik and Chirag defeated Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen 21-13, 16-21, 21-18 in 70 minutes.
They faced another three-game battle in the semifinals, defeating Malaysia’s Nur Mohd Azriyn Ayub and Tan Wee Kiong 21-16, 18-21, 21-11. After dropping the second game, the Indian pair responded emphatically in the decider, taking an early lead and closing out the match comfortably.
The final gives Satwik and Chirag a chance to become the first Indian winners of the China Masters. A victory would also give them their second BWF World Tour title of the 2026 season, having won the Singapore Open earlier.
On the other hand, He Ji Ting and Ren Xiang Yu have also produced a brilliant run in front of their home supporters. The Chinese pair defeated Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik in the quarterfinals before overcoming Malaysia’s Tee Kai Wun and Yap Roy King in the semifinals.
Their last-four contest was a tight affair. He and Ren edged the opening game 23-21, but Tee and Yap fought back to take the second 21-17. The Chinese pair kept their composure in the deciding game, winning 21-17 to secure their place in the final.
