(SOUNDBITE) (English) TEAM CHINA FREESTYLE SKIER, EILEEN GU, SAYING: "I think the goal for me has always been to push the sport, to play my role and make women skiing a little bit better, a little bit stronger and a little bit more visible on the world stage. I think right now it's so exciting to me seeing how many young girls are participating in our sport and enjoying it has brought me personally so much joy. And it brings a smile to my face. The hope and the idea that more young girls can experience the same joy. So I guess that's really my biggest motivation. I'm honored and grateful to have a platform that I do and I am really grateful, especially to the Olympics, for giving it to me." 5. FAN CHEERING ON GU 6. (SOUNDBITE) (English) TEAM CHINA FREESTYLE SKIER, EILEEN GU, SAYING: "You do not need to wait until you're older. Do it now. Do it now. You're a kid and you're strong and you're capable. You're energetic and there will never be a better time than now. So feel capable. Feel powerful. Follow your dreams. Do it now. Like I guess that would be my biggest advice." 7. FANS CHEERING IN THE CROWD 8. (SOUNDBITE) (English) TEAM SWITZERLAND FREESTYLE SKIER, MATHILDE GREMAUD, SAYING: "I can definitely say I feel free and I feel better now that it's over and I got the medal. I'm definitely more relaxed, but it was, it was pretty epic, like the whole week on the slope course and watching everyone and trying to get a strong run and push myself." 9. SWISS FANS CHEERING 10. (SOUNDBITE) (English) TEAM SWITZERLAND FREESTYLE SKIER, MATHILDE GREMAUD, SAYING: "Yeah, it was the last day and I also took a big crash like Megan did in in her second run. I did just before the end of training. And it was kind of funny because, I mean, it hurt a lot, but it was also pretty funny because I felt the pressure release at that time, and I think it was really enjoyable for me to ski, even if it was a bit painful. I felt really free skiing. And I mean, that's what I'm looking for." 11. MEDALLISTS ADDRESSING THE CROWD ON STAGE 12. (SOUNDBITE) (English) TEAM CANADA FREESTYLE SKIER, MEGAN OLDHAM, SAYING: "Just get back up there and just tried to stay really focused and just dial in on the course. And I'm really happy that I was able to put down a run and it was enough to get up here." 13. FAN CHEERING 14. (SOUNDBITE) (English) MOTHER OF OLYMPIAN, BONNIE OLDHAM, SAYING: "You know, it's interesting, everything is really just sinking in. So, of course it's huge, it's an Olympic medal. But there's a piece of me that is just sort of, 'Okay there goes Megan, another medal.' And as I'm getting all of these text messages in and the world is just responding to her. I texted her this afternoon and I said, 'Oh Megan, the enormity of what you've just accomplished is really starting to sink into me.' I'm just so proud of her. So it's amazing" 15. OLDHAM'S MOM AND LONGTIME FRIEND CELEBRATING 16.  (SOUNDBITE) (English)  FRIEND OF OLDHAM, KACIE ALVES , SAYING: "I've been friends with Megan for a long time now. It was so emotional seeing her win because she just wanted it so bad. And she deserved it so badly. She has so much grit, so much determination, and she's just so genuine and sweet and such a great athlete to have out on the course. It was so awesome seeing someone like her prevail." 17. SWISS FANS CELEBRATING 18. VARIOUS OF PEOPLE IN FAN VILLAGE STORY: Freestyle skiing enthusiasts flocked to the fan village in Livigno, Italy, on Tuesday (February 10) to celebrate women’s freeski slopestyle medalists and hear them address the crowd after the event at the Winter Olympics. On stage, Eileen Gu waved to cheering supporters before watching her best run back on a big screen, as the crowd roared and phones rose to capture the moment. Gu told fans her motivation has been to “push the sport” and help make women’s skiing “more visible on the world stage,” saying it brought her joy to see more young girls taking part. She offered direct advice to kids in the audience: “Do it now,” she said, urging them not to wait to chase what they want. Mathilde Gremaud, who won gold, said she felt “more relaxed” once the competition was over, calling the week on the slopestyle course “pretty epic” as she tried to put down a strong run. She also described taking a hard fall in training late in the week, saying it hurt but helped release pressure and left her feeling “really free skiing.”  Megan Oldham said she focused on resetting after her own crash, returning to the course determined to stay dialled in. In the crowd, Oldham’s mother, Bonnie Oldham, said the “enormity” of her daughter’s achievement was sinking in, as messages poured in. (Production: Jenna Zucker, Gavino Garay)
