The Smriti Mandhana–Palash Muchhal relationship saga has taken a dark legal turn as music composer Palash Muchhal was booked by the Sangli Police. The FIR was lodged following a complaint by Vidnyan Prakash Mane, a 34-year-old resident of Sangli and a childhood friend of the Indian cricket star. Muchhal is accused of using derogatory casteist slurs and criminal intimidation during a heated confrontation linked to a long-standing financial dispute. This controversy comes months after the highly publicised cancellation of Mandhana and Muchhal’s wedding in December 2025, further fueling the intense public interest in their fractured personal and professional ties.

Who is Vidnyan Mane And Why Did He File A Complaint Against Palash Muchhal?

According to the official complaint, the root of the conflict is a financial transaction dating back to a film project titled Nazariya. Vidnyan Mane alleges that Palash Muchhal took Rs 25 lakh from him as an investment, promising him a role and a share of the profits within six months. Mane claims that the film was never completed, and Muchhal repeatedly avoided returning the capital. The situation escalated on November 22, 2025, when the two met at a toll plaza on the Sangli–Ashta road. Mane alleges that during this encounter, when he demanded his money back, Muchhal behaved in a humiliating manner and used “unprintable” casteist remarks to insult his identity.

From Wedding Rumours to Legal Battles: The Evolving Controversy Surrounding Palash Muchhal

This legal battle is the latest chapter in a turbulent period for the music composer. Palash Muchhal and Smriti Mandhana were famously set to marry on November 23, 2025, but the ceremony was abruptly called off, reportedly due to a medical emergency involving Mandhana’s father. However, rumours of a split were confirmed when the duo unfollowed each other on social media. Interestingly, in January 2026, Muchhal had filed a Rs 10 crore defamation suit against Mane after the latter accused him of fraud and “cheating” on Mandhana. With the police now investigating the serious allegations of casteist abuse, the personal dispute has officially transformed into a high-profile criminal matter.
