SMYLIE HOLES PUTT ON 18TH FOR PAR AND THE WIN/ SMYLIE CELEBRATES WITH CADDIE STORY: Ripper GC rookie Elvis Smylie produced a nerveless closing 64 to claim victory at the ROSHN Group LIV Golf Riyadh on Saturday (February 7), edging Jon Rahm by one shot in his first start on the breakaway circuit. The 23-year-old finished at 24-under par, sealing the title with a string of clutch shots over the final holes to deny Rahm's late charge. Rahm, captain of Legion XIII and the reigning LIV Golf individual champion, signed for a 63 — the best round of the week — and closed with four straight birdies. On the par-four 18th, the Spaniard drove the green and left himself roughly 15 feet for eagle, but he could not overturn Smylie's lead. Smylie became the first player to win on his LIV debut since Henrik Stenson triumphed at LIV Golf Bedminster in 2022. Behind Smylie, Ripper GC claimed the team title by three shots over Torque GC, matching the side's lone victory from last season. Cameron Smith, Marc Leishman and Lucas Herbert each finished inside the top 24 to support the win. (Production: Simon Ormiston) (The article has been published through a syndicated feed.
