Spain Squad Update: Fabian Ruiz has left the Spain national team camp in Oviedo to travel to Paris for the birth of his first child, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) confirmed on Saturday. The Paris Saint-Germain midfielder will consequently miss Spain’s UEFA Nations League meeting with Czechia at the Carlos Tartiere. His departure comes during a busy international window in which Spain are defending their position at the top of Group A3.
The RFEF confirmed that Ruiz was given permission to leave the squad for the family occasion. There has been no indication that the midfielder’s departure is related to an injury, with the decision instead centred on the birth of his first child. The federation has not announced a replacement for the 30-year-old in the squad.
Fabian Ruiz Ruled Out Of Spain vs Czechia
Fabian Ruiz will not be available when Luis de la Fuente’s side take on Czechia in Oviedo on October 3. The midfielder had featured prominently during Spain’s opening Nations League fixtures.
The PSG star featured in the 3-2 victory over England on September 26 before playing in the 4-1 win against Croatia four days later in the UEFA competition.
Overall, Ruiz has made 52 international appearances for the national team, registering seven goals.
Spain Face Selection Question Ahead Of Croatia Nations League Clash
Ruiz’s departure adds another change to Spain’s squad during the October international window. The federation had already confirmed withdrawals involving Nico Williams and Alejandro Grimaldo, with replacements made for those absences.
Ruiz’s absence against Czechia will give De la Fuente another midfield selection decision, while the Spain camp continues its Nations League campaign.
The reigning world champions will next travel to face Croatia in Split on October 6.
