Suryakumar Yadav Unfollows Mumbai Indians And Hardik Pandya on Instagram; Is Team India Batter Set to Leave MI? Here’s What We Know

Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav has sparked intense exit rumors by unfollowing Mumbai Indians and Hardik Pandya on Instagram while deleting almost all franchise photos. This drastic social media activity comes directly on the heels of him losing the national T20I captaincy and enduring a horrendous IPL 2026 season where he averaged just 20.77.

The former T20I captain of India, Suryakumar Yadav, has erased all his IPL team’s (Mumbai Indians) identity from his official social media handles. The aggressive middle-order batter is facing questions over his future as talks about him moving out of the Mumbai-based franchise ahead of the upcoming mega auction intensify after he unfollowed MI and their current skipper Hardik Pandya on Instagram. The drastic social media purge comes after a period of tumultuous times for the veteran Indian player. Recently, he was unceremoniously sacked as the T20I captain of the Indian team, and shortly after, he was also excluded from the squad for the upcoming white-ball tours of England and Ireland. While fans followed the sensational developments avidly, they were soon shocked to learn that the 35-year-old batter also drastically changed his bio, stripping away any mentions of the 5-time champions, making the entire cricket fraternity ponder if his illustrious eight-year journey with MI has come to an abrupt halt.

Complete Social Media Cleansing Sparks Intense Transfer Speculation

The sudden digital storm began brewing when some astute observers noticed that Suryakumar Yadav had recently deleted almost every post and video clip associated with his decade-long spell with the Mumbai Indians, as verified with a scan through the player’s official followers. The franchise account and Hardik Pandya were found to be entirely missing from his official page.

Coincidentally, the only single picture involving the team remaining in the player’s official handle was a flashback photograph featuring him along with the greats Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni. Adding to the conjecture, the Mumbai Indians and Mumbai were removed from his official bio, as well as a clear indication that it would only mean a deal between the parties was planned ahead of the mega auctions.

Horrendous IPL 2026 Season and Team India Setbacks Exploded

The extreme step taken by Suryakumar Yadav appears to be the direct culmination of a thoroughly disappointing professional run both on the domestic and international stages. Despite leading the Men in Blue to a T20 World Cup triumph earlier, his prolonged individual slump with the bat forced the national selectors to move on from his leadership.

The national team management openly wanted to assess his form during the competitive IPL 2026 campaign, but the Mumbai-based cricketer endured a horrendous season by his own lofty standards. Suryakumar managed to score a meagre 270 runs across 13 appearances for the franchise at a highly disappointing batting average of 20.77, registering only two half-centuries as the Mumbai Indians finished a dismal ninth on the official ten-team points table.
