India were crowned the champions after they defeated New Zealand in the T20 World Cup 2026 final in Ahmedabad on Sunday. The Men in Blue bundled out New Zealand in 159 while chasing 256 and won by 96 runs.
The bowlers have played a massive role in India’s triumph and here we look at the top wicket-takers in this tournament.
Jasprit Bumrah
Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah tops the chart with 14 wickets in 8 matches. Bumrah who scalped 4/15 in the finale at the Narendra Modi Stadium bowled at an economy of 6.21. “Feels extremely special because I’ve played one final in my home venue but couldn’t win that one, but today I won. I knew wicket was a flat one so had to use all my experience. Before this tournament I was in that zone where I felt I was trying too hard because I was bowling well but felt I was trying too hard. This tournament I just tried to let the game come to me, and that worked really well. My individual assessment has always been my strength and getting MOTM at my home ground in a World Cup final, it doesn’t get better than that,” he said after the match.
Varun Chakravarthy
Indian spinner Varun Charavarthy is the next in the tally. The right-arm bowler bagged 14 wickets in 9 matches.
Shadley Claude van Schalkwyk
USA’s medium pacer Shadley Claude van Schalkwyk who had held the helm position for a very long time eventually ended at number three. He picked up 13 wickets in just 4 matches and bowled at an economy of 6.80.
Blessing Muzarabani
Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani bagged 13 wickets in 6 matches bowling at an economy of 7.88.
Adil Rashid
