The Philadelphia 76ers have made some major moves this offseason, adding star power while also bringing in one of the NBA’s tallest players. After signing NBA legend LeBron James and former Boston Celtics Finals MVP Jaylen Brown, the Sixers have now added 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall to their training camp plans.
Philadelphia announced on September 1 that Fall, along with Jameer Nelson Jr. and Saint Thomas, had been invited to training camp later this month. According to ESPN, all three players signed Exhibit 10 contracts and will take part in the team’s training camp as the Sixers prepare for the upcoming NBA season.

The Philadelphia 76ers have continued their aggressive offseason by adding another familiar NBA name to their plans. After bringing in LeBron James and Jaylen Brown, Philadelphia has now invited 7-foot-6 center Tacko Fall to training camp. Fall was announced alongside Jameer Nelson Jr. and Saint Thomas on September 1, with ESPN reporting that all three players signed Exhibit 10 contracts.
An Exhibit 10 deal is a non-guaranteed contract that gives the Sixers an opportunity to evaluate players during training camp before making any further decisions. For Fall, the invitation represents a chance to return to the NBA after spending the last few years playing overseas. The 30-year-old last appeared in the league during the 2021-22 season with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Fall previously spent time with the Boston Celtics from 2019 to 2021, making him a former teammate of Brown. Following his arrival in Philadelphia, Fall said: “It is an opportunity of a lifetime that I shall not waste,” Fall said after joining Philly. “Really looking forward to playing alongside JB and doing whatever it takes to help the team.” His extraordinary 7-foot-6 frame has also earned him the nickname the ‘Victor Wembanyama stopper,’ as he stands two inches taller than the San Antonio Spurs star.
That reputation has even sparked speculation that Philadelphia could have an eye on Fall as a potential matchup option against Wembanyama. Former NBA player and ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins joked about the move on X, writing: “Wemby is to Blame for this move!!! 76ers definitely going all in!!!” While Fall’s role remains uncertain, the Sixers are relatively inexperienced behind Joel Embiid at center, with Adem Bona and Ariel Hukporti currently providing additional depth.
Tacko Fall’s Rise From UCF Cult Hero to NBA and International Journeyman
Fall became an NBA cult figure during his four-year college career at UCF, where his unusual size made him one of the most recognizable players in college basketball. He went undrafted in 2019 before signing with Boston on an Exhibit 10 contract and later earning a two-way deal after an impressive Summer League showing. His path to basketball was unconventional, having grown up in Senegal and initially playing soccer before taking up the sport that eventually led him to the NBA.
Fall appeared in just 37 NBA games across three seasons with the Celtics and Cavaliers, averaging 2.2 points and 2.4 rebounds. After leaving the league, he continued his career internationally in China and New Zealand, including a spell with the New Zealand Breakers during the 2024-25 NBL season. He later returned to the CBA with the Ningbo Rockets and also featured in the 2026 NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, where he recorded 20 points, 21 rebounds and five blocks. Away from basketball, Fall has also gone viral for exploring firefighting training and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, adding another unusual chapter to the career of one of basketball’s tallest players.
