Cristo Fernandez is turning fiction into reality. The Ted Lasso star, known for playing the energetic Dani Rojas, has officially signed a professional deal with USL Championship side El Paso Locomotive FC.
Fernandez had played youth football in Mexico before a knee injury forced him away from the sport at 15. While building his acting career, the 35-year-old quietly continued chasing a football comeback, even training with Chicago Fire’s reserve side earlier this year. After a two-month trial period that included a preseason appearance, Fernandez finally earned his contract with El Paso, bringing his journey from TV footballer to real-life pro full circle.
The rumors were true. Welcome to El Paso, Cristo Fernández. 🚂
