IPL 2026: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) could suffer an enormous injury blow ahead of their remaining league matches of IPL 2026. Leg-spinner Varun Chakravarthy was seen with a crutch and brace on his left leg, walking in a gingerly manner in a hotel in Raipur as a video of the same surfaced on social media.

The injury seems to be serious, given the Madhya Pradesh-born cricketer was walking with a support of a crutch and wearing braces. Although the wrist-spinner didn’t do as expected in T20 World Cup 2026 and struggled in the initial phase of IPL 2026, he has returned to form in the last few games. Having featured in eight games, the 34-year-old has bagged 10 scalps at 25 apiece.
There is no official statement from the Knight Riders’ camp yet but they are likely to monitor his situation ahead of their next match.

Meanwhile, the three-time champions are next to face the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in a home game for the latter at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Stadium in Raipur. The Knight Riders began their campaign with five losses in their first six games. Nevertheless, they have stormed back into the contention for playoffs, securing wins over the Rajasthan Royals, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), SunRisers Hyderabad and the Delhi Capitals. The performance against the Capitals was particularly dominant as Finn Allen cracked a 47-ball 100 to power the Knight Riders to a dominant win. Placed at seventh with four wins and five losses alongside one no result, the Knight Riders need to keep winning to have a shot at playoffs.
Nevertheless, it wouldn’t be easy to beat the Royal Challengers, especially if Varun Chakravarthy is ruled out of the ten-team competition. But the Knight Riders will take some confidence in knowing that they have a better head-to-head record against RCB, winning 20 out of 36 games.
