Charles Leclerc’s Italian Grand Prix 2026 has come to a heartbreaking end after the Ferrari driver crashed into the barriers at the exit of the Parabolica on Lap 3.

Leclerc had started third on the grid and was carrying the hopes of the passionate Tifosi with him. Monza is one of the most special venues on the Formula 1 calendar for the Monegasque driver, with his connection to Ferrari and the Italian fans making every race here feel different.

But this time, his home-away-from-home celebration has turned into frustration.

Leclerc appeared to lose control of the Ferrari on the exit of the Parabolica before making heavy contact with the barriers. The impact caused significant damage to the car and brought his race to an abrupt end just three laps in.

Charles Leclerc Is Safe

The most important news, however, is that Leclerc was able to climb out of the car safely.

The incident triggered a Safety Car before the race was subsequently stopped under a red flag as marshals began clearing the damaged Ferrari and debris from the circuit.

For Leclerc, it is a particularly painful way to end his Monza race. Ferrari’s passionate supporters had hoped to see their star driver fight at the front after starting strongly, but those hopes disappeared almost instantly.

There will be disappointment for Leclerc and the Ferrari garage, but the focus now turns to the driver’s safety and the clean-up operation at the circuit.

Meanwhile, for Pierre Gasly, the Italian Grand Prix remains a special chapter in his Formula 1 story. Six years after claiming his maiden F1 victory at Monza, the Frenchman returned to the Temple of Speed with his first-ever pole position, hoping to create another unforgettable moment at a circuit that has already given him one of the biggest victories of his career.
