The apartment, located in the Arkadia area of the city, was reportedly struck during a nighttime attack, leaving the family home with significant damage.

Yastremska highlighted one striking detail from the destruction: an orange Roland Garros towel that remained hanging amid the wreckage. “A Russian missile destroyed our apartment in Odesa. The only thing that survived was a Roland Garros towel,” Yastremska wrote, sharing photos and videos of the damaged property.
The Ukrainian tennis star described the surviving towel as a painful symbol of what had happened to her family home. “A piece of world tennis survived a Russian missile. Our home did not,” Yastremska wrote on Instagram. She also said the building had been directly hit by a Kalibr cruise missile.
Yastremska Urges WTA and ITF to See Odesa Attack Through Ukrainians’ Eyes
The overnight attack also affected other parts of the Odesa region, with missiles and drones targeting Odesa and nearby Chornomorsk. Regional governor Oleh Kiper said dozens of people were injured, including a baby, while two people were reported missing following the strikes. Further explosions were heard in Odesa the following night, according to a journalist from The Kyiv Independent who was in the city.
Yastremska also called on the Women’s Tennis Association and International Tennis Federation to see the destruction from the perspective of Ukrainians affected by the war. “This is what the ‘Russian world’ looks like. A direct hit by a Kalibr cruise missile,” she wrote on social media, alongside an image showing a burning multi-storey residential building.
The tennis player later tagged the two governing bodies directly, writing, “@wta @itf_reviews Look at these images through our eyes,” as she urged them to confront the reality faced by Ukrainians. Yastremska, currently ranked 113th in the world, is among several Ukrainian athletes whose homes have reportedly been affected by Russian attacks since the full-scale invasion began in 2022. Last year, Ukraine football international Heorhiy Sudakov also said his Kyiv apartment was badly damaged by a Russian drone while his wife and child were at home.
