Neymar Jr escaped a reckless challenge early in Santos FC’s Copa do Brasil second-leg fixture against Palmeiras. Things turned chaotic only a few seconds into the derby, as Neymar was fouled by Felipe Anderson, prompting the referee to show an early yellow card to the Palmeiras midfielder for the tackle. Right after the kick-off, the Santos star started a run down the left flank, with Anderson chasing him from behind.
The duo collided, and the official awarded a free kick in Neymar’s favour. The former Barcelona man, however, was unable to play the full match. He was forced to be subbed off late in the first half due to injury concerns.

The footage soon went viral after Neymar was at the receiving end of Felipe Anderson’s tackle in the Copa do Brasil match, which ended in a goalless draw. Palmeiras progressed to the semi-finals, thanks to their dominant 3-0 victory in the first leg at home.
Despite the collision, Neymar soon got back on his feet, as Anderson was warned. Some Palmeiras players protested the yellow card, but the referee remained stern in his decision.

Neymar Injury Update
Neymar’s night at Vila Belmiro ended prematurely as the Santos talisman was pulled off at the break during Wednesday’s Copa do Brasil quarter-final, with Rony introduced in his place. As per reports, discomfort in his right thigh first surfaced late in the opening 45, moments after he attempted a left-footed effort from range.
By the 43rd minute, Neymar had already alerted the bench to the issue. Visibly troubled, Neymar paced the turf, tore off his headband and underwent a brief physical check, repeatedly clutching the affected area before departing at the interval.
The setback now clouds his availability for the upcoming must-win Campeonato Brasileiro clash with Internacional at Arena Beira-Rio. The 33-year-old has been prolific this season. Neymar has registered eight goals and as many assists across 25 appearances, with his current Santos contract expiring at season’s end.
