Santos travelled to face Remo in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil round of 16. Following a scoreless 0-0 draw in the first leg at Vila Belmiro, everything was on the line at the packed Estadio Mangueirao. However, substitue Rony scored in the 71st minute to hand Santos a 1-0 victory to eliminate the Paraense team and claim a spot in the quarter-finals.

Once inside the stadium tunnel and mixed zone, where the two delegations were only separated by metal barriers, the legendary forward directly taunted the angry Remo officials. He repeatedly shouted, “You’ve been eliminated! You’ve been eliminated!” (“Você está eliminado!”).

Remo President’s Furious Reaction
The taunts from the global superstar did not sit well with Remo’s president, Antonio Carlos Teixeira, known as Tonhao, who condemned the behaviour. “Santos doesn’t need this,” he stated as quoted by several accounts on X, including The Touchline.
