Pakistan men’s cricket team’s selector Aaqib Javed has seemingly called Jasprit Bumrah a bowler with no legal action during a press conference. Speaking at the press conference alongside Sarfaraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq, the former Pakistan speedster also labelled Bumrah as the Usman Tariq of fast bowlers.

Bumrah, who debuted for Team India in 2016, has one of the most unorthodox actions the world has seen. Nevertheless, the right-arm speedster has made even the best batters across the globe dance to his tunes with his guile and a plethora of variations. The ace pacer is currently the No.1 ranked bowler in Tests, leading the charts with 879 rating points. With Pakistan leggie Usman Tariq also having an unorthodox action, the 53-year-old claimed:
“Aaj ke daur mein pure world mein ek aisa bowler hai Jasprit Bumrah – usko bhi abhi maar padna shuru hui hai. He is different, na normal bowler ki tarah uska action hai. Woh fast bowlers ka Usman Tariq hai. Jis tarah woh aata hai, batsmen ka flow nahin banta hai na rhythm banne ko deta hai.” (In this world, as of today, there is Jasprit Bumrah and even he goes for runs. He is different and doesn’t have an action like a normal bowler. He is the Usman Tariq of fast bowlers. The way he bowls, he doesn’t let the batsmen get into a rhythm or flow.)

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old finished T20 World Cup 2026 as the joint-leading wicket-taker with 14 scalps in eight innings, averaging an outstanding 12.42. The final against New Zealand at the Narendra Modi Stadium saw Bumrah earn the Player of the Match award for his outstanding figures of 4-0-15-4.
He will next be seen in IPL 2026 for the Mumbai Indians, with the tournament commencing on March 28.
