The prime catalyst of South Africa’s misery was Finn Allen, who slammed the fastest century in T20 World Cup history (33 balls). The right-handed batter’s rampage, which included 10 fours and 8 sixes, meant that the chase of 170 was completed with more than seven overs to spare.
Jansen’s unbeaten 55 and Tristan Stubbs’s gritty 29 gave South Africa a late boost, but their score was way too low on a typical ‘batting’ Kolkata pitch.
