Born on June 7, 1996 in Northampton, Curran is the brother of England cricketing duo of Sam and Tom – both of whom have played for the English cricket team across formats. They are the sons of Kevin Curran, who was part of Zimbabwe’s 1983 World Cup squad and one that famously beat Australia in that tournament. While Ben has played T20, first-class and one-day cricket for Northamptonshire, he was released from the squad following the 2022 season.
Curran received his maiden call-up to the Zimbabwe squad for the ODI series against Afghanistan in December 2024 and made his first appearance on December 17, 2024. The 30-year-old’s first ODI hundred came against Ireland in February 2025 when he made 118 off 130 deliveries, laced with 14 boundaries to help his side to a nine-wicket triumph. The southpaw showcased his skill against Bangladesh in Harare on July 9, Thursday, hitting nine boundaries en route to his unbeaten 111. His unbroken partnership of 99 with Brad Evans, who made an unbeaten 58 off 38 deliveries was the most significant one of the innings.

The series-opener between the two sides witnessed a low-scoring contest as the home side claimed a stunning 25-run victory despite scoring only 125. Although Nahid Rana took a six-wicket haul to set up the match beautifully for Bangladesh, Evans and Richard Ngarava took three wickets each to bowl the visitors out for 116.
