Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani bowled a rampant spell to dismantle the Australian batting line-up as the Chevrons handed Australia their first defeat of the ongoing T20I World Cup 2026 on Saturday, February 13, 2026. The right-armer claimed four crucial wickets, giving up just 19 runs in his four-over spell against the Aussies.
Batting first, Sikandar Raza’s side batted brilliantly and put a good total of 169 on the board. Complimenting the batting, with Muzarabani as spearhead, the African side bundled their rivals at 146.
With this 23-run victory in Colombo, Zimbabwe has levelled the Aussies in their head-to-head record in the T20Is. Out of the four times the two sides faced each other in the shortest format of the game, both have two victories each to their account.
Who is Blessing Muzarbani?
Gifted with sheer pace and bounce, Blessing Muzarabani is regarded as one of the most glorious pacers Zimbabwe has ever produced. Standing at 6 ft 8 in, he has become the spearhead of Zimbabwe’s bowling attack across all formats.
Born on October 2, 1996, in Harare, he emerged from the prestigious Churchill School, a nursery for Zimbabwean cricketing talent.
He rose to prominence as a symbol of the “new era” of Zimbabwe cricket, briefly stepping away from the international scene to play County cricket in England before returning to lead his country to significant victories on the world stage.
Blessing Muzarbani IPL Connection With RCB
While this comes as a surprise to many, Muzarabani has an IPL title to his account. It is worth noting that the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) signed the 29-year-old as a replacement for Lungi Ngidi. He remained fortunate enough and won his first IPL title with his franchise. However, this was just a playoff deal for Muzarabani.
Blessing Muzarbani PSL Connection
While many of you did not know, Muzarbani shares a connection with the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
Back in 2021, the seamer joined Multan Sultans as a replacement for Ober McCoy. He soon carved a niche for himself with his impressive performance with the white leather.
In 2024, he switched to Karachi Kings and attracted the eyes of pundits and experts with his rampant ability to bowl with raw pace.
Blessing Muzarabani Career
Though Muzarabani made his debut for Zimbabwe in 2017 against South Africa, his peculiar deal with Nottinghamshire brought a slight stop to his international career.
However, things took an unexpected turn when he returned to the national colours in 2020, and he has been pivotal in Zimbabwe’s bowling line-up since then.
His best performance to date remains the 2020 ODI against Pakistan in Rawalpindi, where he claimed 5/49 and then defended a tiny total in the Super Over by taking two wickets for just two runs, securing a historic tie-breaking win for Zimbabwe.
Moreover, his recent 4-fer against Australia in the group stage fixture of the T20I World Cup has further cemented his position as one of the most premium cricketers on his side.
