New Zealand opening batter Finn Allen has already become a household name after his stunning hundred against South Africa in the high-stakes T20 World Cup 2026 semi-final at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Having smashed a record-breaking ton in the marquee event, it's worth exploring the right-hander's background as he strives for more success.
Born in Auckland on April 22, 1999, the 26-year-old started playing cricket professionally during the 2016 U19 World Cup but New Zealand failed to progress beyond the group stage. He then made an appearance in the 2016-17 edition of the Super Smash, followed by his List A and first-class debut in 2017. Nevertheless, the youngster was outstanding in the 2017-18 U19 World Cup, clattering 338 runs in six outings at 67.60 alongside a strike rate of 119.01.
After Allen's defining season for Wellington the 2020-21 edition of Super Smash, a tournament in which he mustered 512 runs, an IPL contract from the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), roped in as Josh Phillipe's injury replacement.
