Hilary Knight is the captain of the U.S. women's national ice hockey team and is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most decorated players in the history of women’s hockey. She is competing in her fifth and final Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, where she has already tied the record for the most career Olympic goals in U.S. women’s hockey history.
Knight, 36, was born in Sun Valley, Idaho, but later moved to Illinois, where she developed a passion for hockey at a young age. According to Eye on Sun Valley, Knight had Olympic dreams as early as five years old.
Knight played college hockey at the University of Wisconsin from 2007 to 2012 before joining the Boston Blades to start her professional career. Knight has been playing professional hockey for 15 years now in various leagues such as CWHL, NWHL, and PWHL. She has been playing for Boston-based teams for the longest time and is currently playing for the Seattle Torrent.
Hilary Knight’s net worth is estimated to be between $3 million and $6 million, which is approximately ₹25-50 crore INR. Hilary Knight is one of the highest-paid women ice hockey players, earning money from professional league contracts, national team salaries, and endorsements.
Hilary Knight signed a one-year deal with the PWHL Seattle Torrent. While the specifics are not public knowledge, the best players in the PWHL league earn between $80,000 and $120,000+ per year, which is roughly ₹66-99 lakh INR.
Knight has collected four Olympic medals throughout her career, starting with the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. She has a total of three silver medals from the 2010, 2014, and 2022 Olympics, as well as a gold medal from the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics. The gold medal marked the first time Team USA had won a gold medal in women’s hockey in 20 years, after a 3-2 shootout win over Canada.
Hilary Knight is currently engaged to fellow American Olympian and speed skater Brittany Bowe.
The relationship of Brittany Bowe and Hilary Knight marked a milestone at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics. The speed skater and the hockey team captain started dating after they met at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. On February 18, 2026, the two announced their engagement through an Instagram post, stating that the Winter Games, where both are competing in their respective events, made them “forever.”
Although they hail from different sporting backgrounds, they attribute the Olympics for bringing them together.
“She didn’t know anything about speed skating,” Bowe, a two-time Olympic bronze medalist, told Team USA in June 2025. “She’s still learning. But that’s what’s so special about the Olympics bringing together athletes who would otherwise never cross paths.”
