Meanwhile, the 29-year-old Australian all-rounder has been a lynchpin of the limited-overs side for a long time now. While Australia finished as the semi-finalists in the previous 50-over and T20 World Cup edition, the Women in Yellow brought their ruthless side, finishing unbeaten throughout the World Cup to lift the trophy. Sophie Molineux notably went on to win the World Cup in her first ICC tournament as captain. Molinuex was also the third-highest wicket-taker of the competition, snaring 11 scalps at 14.72.

Gardner, who added both batting and bowling depth, scored 150 runs in six games alongside a strike rate of 170.45 with two half-centuries. But with the ball, she managed only three scalps with a bowling average of 40.33. Australia will next be in action against Bangladesh at home, featuring in three ODIs and as many T20Is.
