DiJonai Carrington found herself at the centre of another physical incident during the Chicago Sky’s loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday. The guard was involved in contact with two Valkyries players around the face, adding to the scrutiny she has faced after her recent hard foul on Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham left Cunningham bleeding from the mouth.

Carrington’s latest outing was a difficult one overall. She was handed a technical foul after one of the incidents, struggled offensively by shooting just 1-for-9 from the field, and the night also saw a fan removed from Chase Center. The latest controversy adds to an increasingly turbulent stretch for the Sky guard.

DiJonai Carrington Faces More Backlash After Eye-Poking Incident Against Valkyries

DiJonai Carrington is facing renewed scrutiny after another physical outing, this time during the Chicago Sky’s 91-71 loss to the Golden State Valkyries. The incident comes just days after her Flagrant 2 foul on Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham, which resulted in an ejection. Carrington later sparked a social media storm by posting “WHITE PRIVILEGE” on Threads, although she subsequently pushed back against interpretations of the message, writing, “I’ve never once claimed that the assessment of the foul was white privilege (that was your assumption).”

Against Golden State, Carrington was involved in two separate plays where her hands made contact with opponents around the face. While defending Cecilia Zandalasini, her left hand caught the Valkyries forward near the eye as she attempted to swipe at the ball. Later, Carrington made contact with Tiffany Hayes around the mouth while defending a layup attempt. Neither incident resulted in a technical or flagrant foul, although Carrington was later assessed a technical for arguing with a referee.

The latest incidents have once again brought attention to questions surrounding Carrington’s physical style of play. Across three games in four days, she has now been involved in face contact with Cunningham, Zandalasini and Hayes, though she has been ejected only once during that stretch. Carrington finished the latest game with just three points on 1-of-9 shooting in 24 minutes, while the WNBA has yet to announce any additional discipline over the recent incidents.

DiJonai Carrington Sparks Courtside Controversy as Fan Removed After Complaint

DiJonai Carrington was involved in a brief courtside incident during the Chicago Sky’s 91-71 loss to the Golden State Valkyries on Wednesday. With 8:47 left in the fourth quarter at Chase Center, Carrington approached referee Sarah Williams and pointed toward a male spectator seated courtside. Security then escorted the fan away while the complaint was reviewed, before he was allowed to return to his seat.

A Valkyries official later told ClutchPoints that “The fan was cooperative after a complaint that was unfounded.” The exact nature of Carrington’s complaint has not been revealed, and broadcast footage did not clearly capture what the fan may have said or done. A broadcaster also acknowledged the uncertainty, saying, “I don’t know what was or wasn’t said.” Neither the Sky, WNBA nor Chase Center provided further details, while there is no verified link between the spectator and Carrington’s recent controversies.
