The Fever then opened the extra period strongly and held on to secure the road victory.
Caitlin Clark led Indiana with 26 points and nine assists, while Mitchell and Makayla Timpson each added 20 points. Timpson delivered a career-best performance and scored six points in overtime, while Aliyah Boston contributed 18 points and 14 rebounds. Clark and Mitchell then combined for the crucial plays late, with Clark knocking down two free throws to seal the win and move Indiana to 23-12.
Atlanta Dream Blow Late Lead as Fever Complete Overtime Comeback
The Dream were unable to protect their lead after controlling much of the game, taking a 44-40 advantage into halftime and extending it to nine points by the third quarter. Allisha Gray had a career-high 32 points, while Angel Reese posted 15 points and 14 rebounds, but Atlanta struggled offensively when the Fever turned up the pressure. The Dream missed several chances to win the game in regulation before Indiana forced overtime.
Atlanta also fell short in the extra period despite cutting the Fever’s lead to two with 11 seconds remaining. Rhyne Howard made three free throws to keep the Dream within reach, but Clark answered from the line to close out the win. The loss dropped Atlanta to 21-13 and left the Dream 1½ games behind Indiana in the race for fourth place and home-court advantage.
