WTC Points Table 2025-27: Bangladesh produced one of the biggest results of the ongoing World Test Championship 2025-27 cycle, defeating Australia by nine wickets in the first Test in Darwin. The stunning victory not only gave Bangladesh a historic Test triumph on Australian soil but also changed the WTC points table, cutting Australia’s points percentage from 87.50 to 77.78. Bangladesh, meanwhile, strengthened their fourth-place position.
Bangladesh stun Australia in historic Darwin Test
Australia won the toss and chose to bat first, but Bangladesh’s bowlers immediately put the hosts under pressure. Hasan Mahmud spearheaded the attack with a superb six-wicket haul as Australia were dismissed for 198.
Bangladesh then took complete control with the bat. Tanzid Hasan scored a memorable century and useful contributions from Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mehidy Hasan Miraz powered the visitors to 426 and a mammoth 228-run first-innings lead.
Australia fought back in their second innings, with Cameron Green scoring a century, but Bangladesh eventually bowled them out for 284. That left the visitors with just 57 runs to chase, which they completed comfortably to seal a famous nine-wicket victory.
Australia remain No. 1 but lead takes a hit
Australia continue to occupy the top position in the WTC standings with 84 points from nine Tests. However, their PCT has dropped to 77.78% after suffering their second defeat of the cycle.
South Africa are now just behind Australia with a 75.00% PCT, while New Zealand remain third on 72.22%. The narrowing gap at the top means Australia cannot afford another slip-up in the upcoming matches.
Bangladesh strengthen fourth position
Bangladesh’s impressive victory has taken them to 40 points from five Tests, with their PCT rising from 58.33% to 66.67%. They remain fourth but have significantly strengthened their position in the race for the WTC final.
India are fifth with a 48.15% PCT, followed by Sri Lanka on 41.67%. England, Pakistan and West Indies occupy the bottom three positions.
