WWE SmackDown in Mexico City featured a loaded card with four championship matches and several major names from the brand in action. AAA Cruiserweight Champion Rey Fenix put his title on the line against Ricky Saints, while Chelsea Green made her first defense of the Interim WWE Women’s Championship against Nia Jax. The War Raiders also had their AAA Tag Team Championships at stake against the team of R-Truth and Damian Priest.
The show also featured a singles clash between Nikki Bella and Paige, while the main event saw WWE Undisputed Champion CM Punk defend his championship against former titleholder Sami Zayn. With several titles and high-profile rivalries on the line, SmackDown delivered a packed night of action in Mexico City. Here’s a look at the complete results from the show.
CM Punk vs Sami Zayn: Zayn Wins WWE Championship After Chaotic Finish
CM Punk started aggressively, diving through the ropes to take down Sami Zayn before following up with strikes and a suplex. Zayn fought back by targeting Punk’s leg, sending his ankle into the ring post and later trapping him in a Figure Four Leg Lock. Punk escaped and mounted a comeback, hitting a roundhouse kick and GTS, but Zayn survived the pinfall attempt. Zayn answered with a Blue Thunder Bomb and Exploder before preparing for another Helluva Kick, only for Punk to counter and hit another GTS.
The match descended into chaos when Johnny Gargano and Candice LeRae came out to rally Zayn. Punk applied the Anaconda Vice, but the referee missed Zayn tapping after being distracted by LeRae. Gargano then tried to use the championship belt, but Punk stopped him with a GTS. Kevin Owens intervened to prevent Zayn from using the title, but accidentally struck Punk with the belt instead. Zayn took advantage, hit Owens with a low blow and followed with a Helluva Kick on Punk to secure the victory and become the new WWE Undisputed Champion.
Chelsea Green vs Nia Jax: Green Retains Women’s Championship
Chelsea Green and Nia Jax wasted no time taking the fight outside the ring, with Jax sending Green over the Spanish announce desk before throwing her back inside and driving her into the turnbuckles. Green briefly fought back with a hurricanrana and double knees, but Jax regained control with a powerful Fallaway Slam. The action then shifted when Green found herself caught between Jax and Lash Legend, with Tiffany Stratton stepping in to protect the champion.
Green capitalised on the opening, sending Legend into the ring post before avoiding an An-Nia-Lator attempt. She quickly followed with an Unprettier to secure the three-count and retain the WWE Interim Women’s Championship.
