New Delhi, August 5: Central Delhi Kings continued their outstanding run in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2026 with a dominant nine-wicket win over Purani Dilli 6 in a rain-curtailed 15-over contest at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Wednesday.
The Kings delivered a complete team performance, with Money Grewal leading the bowling attack before captain Yash Dhull stole the spotlight with a sensational unbeaten century during the chase.
After the emphatic victory, Grewal praised Dhull’s ability to step up in pressure situations and guide the team home.
“Yash is the kind of player who takes responsibility and wins matches for the team. As long as he is at the crease, we always believe we are in the game, regardless of the target. He has been in outstanding form,” Grewal said.
Speaking about his own bowling performance, Grewal revealed the team’s strategy during the death overs.
“Our plan at that stage was to keep attacking and bowl in the right areas during the death overs. We knew that if we could pick up a few more wickets and expose the new batters, it would become difficult for them to score freely. I just focused on executing my plans, and thankfully it worked for us.”
Asked to bat first, Purani Dilli 6 suffered an early collapse as Money Grewal ripped through the top order. Central Delhi Kings reduced them to 55/5 in the ninth over, putting them firmly on the back foot.
Rohan Rathi and Ashwini Chillar then staged a strong recovery with an 85-run partnership for the sixth wicket. Rathi scored a brisk 46 off 21 balls while Chillar made a steady 38 off 29 balls to power Purani Dilli 6 to a respectable 140 for 7 in their stipulated 15 overs.
Money Grewal was the pick of the bowlers with figures of 3/22 off three overs, while Gavnish Khurana also bagged 2/22 to keep the Kings in charge throughout the innings.
Central Delhi Kings made light of the chase in response. Yash Dhull led from the front and smashed an incredible unbeaten ton, reaching the three-digit mark in just 47 deliveries. His perfect innings, full of elegant strokeplay and clean hitting, guided the Kings to an easy victory and extended their unbeaten run in the tournament.
