A tragic incident unfolded during a local cricket match in Jammu and Kashmir, as a young player, Suhail Ganai, collapsed on the field and died due to a suspected cardiac arrest. The game, part of the Bhalessa Chenab Premier League (BCPL) 2026, was underway at the Y.C.C. Gymkhana Kishtwar Sports Stadium situated in the Thaloran area of Gandoh Tehsil. Suhail, who was playing Badshah 11 Bhalessa, had just completed his over and went down to tie his shoelaces.
He appeared to be struggling to hold himself up and eventually collapsed. Some of his teammates supported Suhail and tried to pick him up. He tried to walk but again fell onto the ground. The medical team immediately rushed into the field, but the 22-year-old cricketer could not be revived.

During the match, Suhail reportedly complained of severe chest pain before suddenly collapsing while delivering a ball. His teammates and others on the ground quickly attended to him, performing CPR in an effort to revive him before rushing him to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) in Changa.
Doctors declared him dead on arrival, with initial reports pointing to a cardiac arrest as the likely cause. The tragic incident unfolded during a match that was being streamed live on Facebook by local residents.

Did the BPCL match continue after Suhail’s death?
The match was immediately called off after Suhail’s tragic demise. His lifeless body was sent for formalities before being handed to his family members. Suhail, the son of Fayaz Ahmed, was reportedly a resident of Kulshari in Bhadrawah, Doda.
Before his heart attack, Suhail had bowled two overs and picked up as many wickets while conceding eight runs, as his team was defending a 147-run target in 12 overs.
