Former Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh is set to begin his formal coaching stint, with the Delhi Capitals likely to appoint him in one of the roles ahead of IPL 2027. According to The Times of India, ex-Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who is expected to lead the franchise’s support setup when JSW comes back to take control of the same, is likely to have his fellow countryman as part of the support staff.

While the former left-handed batter has not held any official coaching role before, he has mentored players like Abhishek Sharma and Prabhsimran Singh. Abhishek is a T20 World-Cup winner and held the No.1 ranking in the T20I rankings, while Prabhsimran Singh has proved his credentials in IPL for the Punjab Kings and is currently part of India A tour of Sri Lanka.

Yuvraj may be a little late to the party, but he has spent considerable time working with youngsters and understanding the demands of the role. He doesn’t just train players; he mentors them. It’s not limited to phone calls or virtual sessions. He spends hours on the ground, often standing behind the nets and working under the sun alongside his players. It’s a genuinely hands-on approach that has benefited numerous cricketers.”

Having played for the Punjab Kings, Delhi Capitals, SunRisers Hyderabad, Pune Warriors, Mumbai Indians and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the southpaw’s IPL career spanned from 2008 to 2019, compiling of 132 matches.
