Zimbabwe vs Australia 1st ODI: Australia begin their preparations for the 2027 ODI World Cup with a challenging series in Zimbabwe, while the hosts will look to produce another upset against the reigning world champions. The three ODIs will all be played in Harare, with the first match starting at 9:30 AM local time.Â
Australia return to Zimbabwe for their first ODI series there in several years and will use the matches to assess their combinations ahead of next year’s World Cup. Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head return to the top order, while players such as Cooper Connolly, Josh Inglis, Cameron Green and Matt Renshaw have opportunities to strengthen their claims.
Zimbabwe, meanwhile, enter the series with confidence after beating Bangladesh 2-1 in their most recent ODI series. The hosts have also recalled experienced campaigners Brendan Taylor and Graeme Cremer, while Blessing Muzarabani and Brad Evans will lead their pace attack.Â
The contest is also a chance for Zimbabwe to repeat their recent success against Australia. Zimbabwe defeated Australia at the 2026 T20 World Cup, while they also won an ODI against the Australians during their 2022 series in Australia. Australia, however, have dominated the overall ODI rivalry and will enter the opening match as favourites.
