Zimbabwe and Australia are set to begin their three-match ODI series on September 15, 2026, with the opening game at Harare Sports Club. The series marks Australia’s first ODI tour of Zimbabwe in more than 10 years and offers both sides valuable preparation as they build towards the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.

Zimbabwe will be hoping to make the most of home conditions, with Sikandar Raza taking charge as interim captain in the absence of injured Richard Ngarava. The hosts also have several experienced players returning to the squad as they look to bounce back from an inconsistent run of results. Australia, meanwhile, will be led by Mitchell Marsh and are using the tour to give opportunities to some of their emerging white-ball players, with several senior fast bowlers rested. While Australia have traditionally enjoyed the upper hand in this fixture, Zimbabwe have shown they can cause an upset, including their memorable ODI win in Townsville in 2022.

ZIM vs AUS ODI Head-to-Head: Check Overall Record and Past Results

Australia have enjoyed a commanding record against Zimbabwe in men’s ODIs, winning 29 of their 32 meetings, while Zimbabwe have managed just two victories, with one match ending without a result. Despite that overwhelming advantage, Zimbabwe have produced a few memorable upsets in recent years, showing that Australia cannot afford to take the hosts lightly. Australia’s highest ODI total in this fixture is 350/6, scored in Harare in 2014, while Zimbabwe’s best is 301/6 in Perth in 2001.

The most recent five meetings underline the competitive nature of the matchup at times. Zimbabwe stunned Australia by three wickets in Townsville in September 2022, with Ryan Burl producing a remarkable 5/10, although Australia had won the previous two games in that series by eight and five wickets. Zimbabwe also secured a three-wicket victory in Harare in 2014, ending a 31-year wait for an ODI win over Australia. Australia responded by winning the earlier 2014 meeting by a massive 198 runs, with Mitchell Marsh making a key contribution with both bat and ball.
