Apple’s one of the most anticipated mobile, the iPhone 18 Pro, has got a new leak about its battery capacity, that too just months before its expected launch. According to the recent reports, Apple may once again adopt the region specific startegy for the iPhone 18 Pro buyers, offering them different battery capacities depending on the market.

The latest iPhone 18 Pro leak hints that customers and buyers in the US may receive an iPhone 18 Pro with a slightly larger battery, while users in other countries that still require physical SIM cards, including India, could get a smaller battery variant. These leaks have also provided fresh information about the phone’s expected pricing, release, strategy, battery performance and more.

iPhone 18 Pro Latest Leaks: Battery Capacities Leaked

A new report citing a well-known Weibo tipster, Digital Chat Station, claims that Apple is testing two battery versions of the iPhone 18 Pro ahead of its launch.

According to the leak, the US version of the iPhone 18 Pro could feature a 4,288mAh battery. Meanwhile, another version of the device is reportedly being tested with a 4,056mAh battery for markets where Apple still includes a physical SIM tray.

Although the difference may not appear substantial, it highlights Apple’s continuing strategy of tailoring hardware configurations for different regions.

Apple iPhone 18 Pro Battery Leaks: Bigger Battery to US Users, Smaller to India Users (Expected)

The reason behind the battery difference reportedly comes down to Apple’s eSIM-only approach in the United States.

Since US iPhones no longer require a physical SIM card slot, Apple can use the extra internal space to fit a slightly larger battery. Countries such as India continue to receive iPhones with physical SIM support, meaning less space is available inside the device.

While Apple has not officially confirmed which variant will arrive in India, industry observers believe Indian consumers could receive the 4,056mAh version if the leak proves accurate.

However, final specifications will only become clear when Apple officially unveils the device.

iPhone 18 Pro Battery Variants (Expected)

If the latest reports are accurate, Apple will continue a strategy that reportedly started with the previous Pro models.

The company is expected to offer:

  • US iPhone 18 Pro (eSIM-only): 4,288mAh battery
  • International/Physical SIM version: 4,056mAh battery

The larger battery is possible because removing the SIM tray creates additional room within the phone’s internal layout.

This approach allows Apple to maximise battery capacity without increasing the overall size of the device.

Apple iPhone 18 Pro Battery Upgrade Disappointing? (Expected)

Despite the attention surrounding the leak, the battery upgrade itself appears relatively modest. Reports suggest the eSIM version of the iPhone 17 Pro featured a 4,252mAh battery. If true, the iPhone 18 Pro would gain only around 36mAh in the US market.

Similarly, the physical SIM version would receive only a minor increase over the previous generation.

Compared to several Android flagship manufacturers that are reportedly preparing batteries exceeding 6,000mAh, Apple’s battery growth appears conservative. For users hoping for a dramatic battery upgrade, the latest leak may come as a disappointment.

iPhone 18 Pro Latest Leaks: A20 Chip to Improve Battery Life? (Expected)

Battery capacity tells only part of the story. Apple is widely expected to introduce its new A20 Pro chip with the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. Reports indicate that the processor could be built using an advanced 2nm manufacturing process, making it more power-efficient than previous generations.

A more efficient chipset can significantly reduce energy consumption during everyday tasks, gaming, photography, and AI-driven functions. As a result, users could still experience improved battery life even if the battery capacity itself sees only a small increase.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max is also rumoured to receive a slight battery boost, potentially reaching around 5,100mAh.

iPhone 18 Pro Price in US (Expected)

Apple has not announced official pricing for the iPhone 18 Pro series. However, recent analyst reports suggest that the company may avoid a significant price increase despite rising manufacturing costs.

The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to start at around $999, while the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max could begin at approximately $1,199, similar to current-generation pricing.

Apple reportedly wants to maintain strong demand in the premium smartphone segment even as production costs continue to rise.

iPhone 18 Pro Release Date in the US (Expected)

Apple traditionally unveils new iPhones during the first half of September, and the iPhone 18 lineup is expected to follow the same schedule.

Industry insiders believe Apple could announce the iPhone 18 series during a launch event in the first or second week of September 2026, with pre-orders beginning shortly after the event.

Official sales are expected to start later in the same month.

Apple iPhone 18 Series: What to Expect?

Beyond battery changes, the iPhone 18 Pro lineup is expected to bring improvements in performance, camera capabilities, AI features, and efficiency.

Rumours suggest Apple will focus heavily on the A20 Pro chip, enhanced photography features, and improved battery optimisation rather than introducing major design changes.

While the battery upgrades may appear modest on paper, Apple’s combination of hardware and software optimisation could still deliver noticeable improvements in real-world usage.

With several months remaining before launch, more details about the iPhone 18 series are expected to emerge as Apple prepares for its next flagship smartphone release.
