Apple has officially entered the foldable phone market with its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo. The new model comes with a 7.6-inch inner display that opens up into a larger screen while a 5.4-inch display on the outside makes the phone easier to use when folded.
The iPhone Duo is not just about the new foldable design. Apple has also packed it with the A20 Pro chip, a dual-battery setup, a new camera system, iOS 27 and several features designed specifically for the two-screen experience. The phone is made from Grade 5 titanium and also gets a redesigned hinge for smoother opening and closing.

iPhone Duo Features And Specifications: Key Highlights
The iPhone Duo brings a number of changes compared with Apple’s traditional iPhone models. Its biggest highlight is the foldable design which gives users a large 7.6-inch screen without making the phone difficult to carry when closed.
The phone also features an A20 Pro chip, 48MP cameras, a dual-battery system, iOS 27, Apple Intelligence and a titanium build. It is available with up to 2TB of storage and comes in two colour options.
iPhone Duo Display Specifications
The iPhone Duo comes with two Super Retina XDR displays. When folded, the phone has a 5.4-inch outer display which Apple says offers 90 per cent of the screen area of the iPhone 18 Pro.
When opened, the device reveals a much larger 7.6-inch inner display. Apple says the inner screen is 50 per cent larger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max. This will give users more space for watching videos, gaming and multitasking.
Both displays have the same aspect ratio, so content can move between the two screens while keeping the experience consistent.
The displays also support ProMotion, Always On and up to 3000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. The inner display has a nano-texture finish that helps reduce glare and reflections while also making the crease less noticeable.
Apple has placed a new FaceTime camera underneath the inner display.
iPhone Duo Design Specifications
The iPhone Duo has a Grade 5 titanium body with a polished finish. Apple has also used a 3D-printed hinge cover with a contrasting micro-blasted finish.
The back of the phone is protected by Ceramic Shield while the front gets Ceramic Shield 2. Apple says Ceramic Shield 2 offers three times better scratch resistance than the previous generation.
The foldable iPhone also has an IP68 rating which means it is resistant to splashes, water and dust.
The hinge contains more than 100 components and has been designed to control the opening and closing movement while supporting the centre of the display. The internal structure also includes support ribs to add stiffness to the phone.
iPhone Duo Camera Specifications
The iPhone Duo comes with a 48MP Fusion Main camera that can capture photos at up to 48MP resolution. It also offers an integrated optical-quality 2x Telephoto option.
The main camera uses a new computational photography system to improve details. It also has a large sensor, fast aperture and sensor-shift optical image stabilisation to help with low-light photography.
The phone also features a 48MP Fusion Ultra-Wide camera which can capture wider shots and supports macro photography.
For selfies and video calls, there is a new Center Stage front camera that can automatically adjust framing in different orientations.
iPhone Duo Security And Control Features: Touch ID And Camera Control
Apple has integrated Touch ID into the side button of the iPhone Duo. This allows users to unlock and authenticate the device whether it is open or folded.
The phone also gets Camera Control, which provides quick access to the camera. It works with a new Siri Camera mode that allows Siri to understand what the camera is seeing and respond to questions or take actions based on the scene.

Apple has added several camera features that take advantage of the foldable design. Smart Take uses on-device AI to analyse a scene and automatically capture a photo when the subjects are ready.
Users can also take selfies using the higher-resolution rear cameras while checking the preview on the outer display.
There is also Kid Cue, which displays Peanuts animations on the outer screen to attract children’s attention while taking pictures.
Another feature, Duo FaceTime, allows people who are with the user to join a video call through the outer display.
iPhone Duo Video Specifications
The 48MP Fusion Main camera supports 4K video recording at 120fps in Dolby Vision. This allows users to create slow-motion footage by changing playback speed.
The phone can also apply Cinematic effects after recording at up to 60fps. Time-lapse recording is supported in 4K Dolby Vision HDR.
Apple has also upgraded Audio Mix with new algorithms designed to improve voice quality and isolate music in recordings.
iPhone Duo Software Features
The iPhone Duo runs iOS 27 which has been adapted for its two-screen design.
Apple has changed the placement of controls and navigation elements to make better use of the available display space. When the phone is opened, users can view two Home Screen pages along with the Today View.
The Dynamic Island has also been redesigned for the inner and outer displays. Content can automatically adjust when the phone is folded, opened or turned sideways.
iPhone Duo Siri AI Features
The iPhone Duo comes with Apple Intelligence and the new Siri AI. Siri AI is designed to be more personal and conversational and is rolling out in beta with iOS 27. It can use personal context to help users find information across messages, emails and photos.
It can also understand what is shown on the screen and take actions related to that content.
Apple Intelligence also adds photo editing features such as Spatial Reframing, Extend and an upgraded Clean Up tool.

The iPhone Duo is powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip which is also used in the iPhone 18 Pro models.
The A20 Pro features a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU and Dual 16-core Neural Engine. The chip is built using a 2-nanometre process and also offers 50 percent more unified memory bandwidth.
iPhone Duo Battery Specifications
The foldable iPhone uses a dual-battery architecture with one battery placed on each side of the phone.
iPhone Duo can provide up to 31 hours of video playback using the inner display and up to 44 hours using the outer display. When both displays are used equally, the phone offers up to 24 hours of usage per charge.
For fast charging, the iPhone Duo can reach up to 50 per cent in around 20 minutes. Wireless charging can take it to 50 percent in around 30 minutes with a MagSafe or Qi2 charger.

Apple is offering the iPhone Duo in four storage options: 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB.
The multiple storage choices give users the option to choose depending on how much space they need for photos, videos, apps and other files.

The iPhone Duo will be available in two colours: Star White and Night Sky. Both variants feature the Grade 5 titanium body and polished finish.

The iPhone Duo price in India starts at Rs 2,99,900 for the base model.
Apple is offering the foldable iPhone in 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options. The US starting price is $1,999 for the 256GB model.
iPhone Duo Pre-Order In India: Date And Time
The iPhone Duo pre-orders in India will begin on Friday, October 16.
Apple has included India among more than 70 countries and regions receiving the phone in the first wave. Pre-orders will open at 5 AM PT on October 16, which is 5:30 PM IST in India.

The iPhone Duo will be available in India from Friday, October 23. India is among the first group of markets to receive Apple’s foldable iPhone, alongside countries including the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan and Singapore.
