Apple September Launch Event: Apple is preparing for one of its biggest September launches in years. The company will host its ‘Surprise & Shine’ event on September 9 at 10 am PT, which will be 10:30 PM IST in India. Apple has confirmed the event, but it has not officially revealed the products it will announce.

Apple is expected to focus heavily on its premium products. The iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and Apple’s first foldable iPhone, reportedly called the iPhone Ultra, are among the biggest expected announcements. The company could also unveil the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5.

Apple September 9 Event: What Is It About?

Apple’s September 9 event will mark the company’s major hardware launch for 2026. The event will take place at Apple Park and will be available to watch through Apple’s website and Apple TV app.

The event also carries added significance because it will be the first major iPhone launch under John Ternus as Apple’s CEO. Tim Cook became executive chairman after Ternus took over as CEO on September 1.

Unlike previous years, Apple could change its usual iPhone release strategy this time. Reports indicate that the company may introduce its premium iPhone models in September while delaying the standard iPhone 18 and other lower-priced models until spring 2027.

Apple September 9 Event: What All Products Will Be Launched?

Apple has not confirmed the product list, but current reports point to several major announcements. The expected lineup includes:

  • iPhone 18 Pro
  • iPhone 18 Pro Max
  • First foldable iPhone, reportedly called iPhone Ultra
  • Apple Watch Series 12
  • Apple Watch Ultra 4
  • AirPods 5

The regular iPhone 18 is reportedly not expected at the September event. Apple could move that model, along with the iPhone 18e and next-generation iPhone Air, to a spring 2027 launch window.

iPhone 18 Pro Max: What to Expect?

The iPhone 18 Pro Max could receive several hardware upgrades while retaining the overall design language of the current Pro models.

Apple is expected to equip the phone with the A20 Pro chip, which should deliver faster performance and better power efficiency. Reports also point to improvements in battery capacity and thermal management.

The camera system could receive one of the more important upgrades. Apple is reportedly testing a variable-aperture camera, which could give users greater control over the amount of light entering the lens and improve depth effects.

The iPhone 18 Pro Max could also feature a smaller Dynamic Island and new colour options.

iPhone 18 Pro: What to Expect?

The iPhone 18 Pro should share most of its core technology with the Pro Max. The phone is expected to use the A20 Pro processor and Apple’s new-generation C2 modem. Apple could also improve battery performance and internal cooling.

Camera upgrades could remain a major selling point. The reported variable-aperture technology could allow the camera to adjust the amount of light reaching the sensor, giving photographers more flexibility.

Apple could also reduce the size of the Dynamic Island while maintaining the familiar Face ID system. New colours could provide another visual difference from last year’s Pro models.

iPhone Ultra: What to Expect From Apple’s First Foldable iPhone?

The foldable iPhone could become the star of the September 9 event. Apple reportedly plans a book-style foldable design that opens into a much larger display. Reports suggest the device could have an outer screen of around 5.5 inches and an inner display approaching 7.8 inches.

The phone could fold to roughly the size of a passport and use a redesigned hinge to reduce the visibility of the display crease.

Apple could also take a different approach to biometric authentication. Reports suggest the foldable could bring back Touch ID, potentially because its extremely thin design makes it difficult to fit the Face ID hardware used on conventional iPhones.

The camera setup could also differ from the Pro models. Reports point to two rear cameras, rather than the three-camera arrangement used on Apple’s top-end Pro phones.

iPhone 18 Pro Max & iPhone 18 Pro Pre-Order Date (Expected)

Apple could change its normal pre-order schedule this year. The September 9 event falls on a Wednesday. Normally, Apple opens iPhone pre-orders on the Friday immediately after its launch event. This year, however, that date is September 11.

Reports suggest Apple could instead open pre-orders on Saturday, September 12. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max could then reach customers and stores on September 18, although Apple will officially confirm the dates during the event.

The foldable iPhone could follow a different schedule because of reported production limitations. Some reports expect its retail availability later than the Pro models.

Apple Watch Series 12: What to Expect?

Apple is expected to introduce the Apple Watch Series 12 alongside its new iPhones.

The watch could retain Apple’s familiar design while adding new colours and potentially bringing back ceramic case options. Reports also point to improvements in health and fitness tracking.

Apple could introduce more advanced heart-rate monitoring, including a system capable of tracking heart rate continuously throughout the day. The company could also improve the internal hardware to support more advanced Siri and Apple Intelligence features.

Apple Watch Ultra 4: What to Expect?

The Apple Watch Ultra 4 could continue Apple’s premium smartwatch strategy without receiving a dramatic redesign. Instead, Apple could concentrate on performance, health tracking and battery efficiency.

The Ultra 4 is expected to retain the rugged character of the Ultra range, while Apple could introduce updated colours, bands and internal components. More advanced Siri capabilities could also become an important part of the new watch lineup as Apple expands its AI features across its devices.

AirPods 5: What to Expect?

Apple could also refresh its entry-level AirPods lineup with AirPods 5. Reports suggest Apple could offer different versions, including a model with active noise cancellation. The new earbuds could also receive an upgraded chip and additional health-related sensors.

However, Apple is not expected to launch the more ambitious camera-equipped AirPods at this event.

Those earbuds reportedly remain part of Apple’s 2027 product plans. The cameras could help AirPods understand the user’s surroundings and provide AI-powered contextual information without functioning as conventional photo or video cameras.

Apple September 9 Event: What All to Expect?

The September 9 event could represent a major shift in Apple’s product strategy.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will likely remain the most important mainstream launches, but the first foldable iPhone could generate the most attention. Apple could use the device to enter a market that Samsung and other Android manufacturers have developed for years.

The event could also introduce the Apple Watch Series 12, Apple Watch Ultra 4 and AirPods 5, while Apple may save some other products for later in the year.

For Indian consumers, the event begins at 10:30 p.m. IST on September 9. Apple will reveal the official specifications, prices and availability during the presentation.
