The excitement surrounding the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto VI has taken a new turn after Rockstar Games quietly removed internal game identifiers from the PlayStation Store database. The move came after gamers discovered the hidden codes and began using them to make the unreleased title appear on their gaming profiles.

The discovery quickly spread across online gaming communities, where screenshots showed GTA 6 listed as a recently played game on several PlayStation and Xbox accounts. Although players never gained access to the actual game, the appearance of the title on profiles sparked widespread speculation about the game’s development progress.

Within a short period, Rockstar and Sony reportedly removed the identifiers and reset affected profiles, shutting down the workaround that allowed users to display the unreleased title.

GTA 6 Listing Appeared Briefly in PlayStation Database

The situation began when gaming tracker PlayStation Game Size discovered two internal identifiers connected to Grand Theft Auto VI inside Sony’s PlayStation Store system. The identifiers were listed as PPSA01547_00 and PPSA29660_00.

These identifiers are internal codes used by Sony to organise games across different regions, editions and digital store listings. Their presence suggested that Rockstar Games or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive, had already uploaded preliminary information needed to prepare the game’s store infrastructure.

Soon after the discovery, users began experimenting with the code. Within about two days, some players figured out how to use the identifiers to make GTA 6 appear in the “recently played” section of their PlayStation Network and Xbox profiles.

GTA 6: Rockstar Removes Identifiers & Resets Profiles

Rockstar Games responded quickly after the exploit gained attention online. The company removed the GTA 6 identifiers from Sony’s PlayStation Store database, preventing further use of the codes. Reports indicate that gaming profiles that previously displayed GTA 6 have now had the title removed from their activity history.

The exploit did not provide access to the game itself. Instead, it only allowed users to display the title on their profiles as if they had played it. Despite the limited nature of the exploit, the situation gained major attention across gaming forums and social media.

Some accounts that attempted to use the workaround reportedly faced penalties, including temporary bans, although official confirmation of those actions remains unclear. The quick removal of the identifiers suggests Rockstar is closely monitoring the game’s backend systems as it prepares for the eventual launch of the highly anticipated title.

GTA 6: Speculation About Older Console Versions

The brief appearance of the identifiers also triggered another wave of speculation among fans. Some users noticed references within Sony’s database that appeared to link the internal codes to PlayStation 4 systems.

This discovery led to discussions about whether a PS4 version of GTA 6 may have existed earlier in the game’s development cycle. Players even managed to display GTA 6 on PS4 account activity pages during the exploit period. However, Rockstar has never officially confirmed a version of the game for older consoles.

At present, the developer has only confirmed the game for current-generation platforms, meaning PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Many industry analysts believe that the technical demands of the next Grand Theft Auto game may make it difficult to run on older hardware.

GTA 6 Launch Date (Expected)

Grand Theft Auto VI remains one of the most anticipated video game releases in the world. Rockstar Games confirmed that the game is in development, but the company has not yet revealed the official release date.

Industry reports suggest that GTA 6 could launch sometime in 2026, although Rockstar has not confirmed a precise timeline. The game will likely debut first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with a possible PC release arriving later, following Rockstar’s typical release strategy for major titles.

The recent PlayStation database activity has strengthened speculation that the game is gradually moving closer to its official store listing and launch preparations.

GTA 6 Price (Expected)

Rockstar Games has also not confirmed the official price of GTA 6 yet, but industry expectations point toward standard pricing for modern AAA games. Analysts believe the standard edition could launch at around $70 globally, which would translate to roughly ₹5,800 to ₹6,000 in India.

Rockstar may also introduce special editions or deluxe versions that include bonus digital content, early access items or additional in-game features. These premium editions would likely cost more than the base version. The final pricing details will become clear once Rockstar opens official pre-orders on digital storefronts like the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store.

GTA 6 Hype Continues as Rockstar Tightens Control Over Game Data

The brief appearance of GTA 6 in Sony’s backend system highlights how closely fans monitor every update related to the highly anticipated game. Even a small technical listing or internal code discovery can quickly spread across gaming communities and spark widespread discussion online.

By removing the identifiers from the PlayStation database, Rockstar Games has shown that it is actively managing early store infrastructure and preventing misuse of internal data. The company continues to keep most official details about the game under wraps.

However, every new development—from database activity to industry leaks—keeps excitement around GTA 6 growing. As Rockstar gradually prepares for the game’s official reveal and release, fans around the world remain eager for confirmed updates about the launch date, pricing and gameplay features.
