GTA 6 Launch Week Sales: Grand Theft Auto VI is already generating buzz all over the internet and breaking records months before its official release in November.

New market research from gaming analytics firm Newzoo suggests the highly anticipated title could generate between $3.25 billion and $5.2 billion in revenue during its launch week, making it one of the biggest entertainment launches ever.

Experts say GTA 6 has already delivered the strongest pre-order campaign they have tracked, with demand continuing to build ahead of its November 2026 release.

GTA 6 Launch Week Sales: Newzoo Predicted to Earn Up to $5.2 Billion in Launch Week

Gaming analytics company Newzoo estimates that Grand Theft Auto VI could earn anywhere between $3.25 billion and $5.2 billion during its opening week. The prediction is based on current pre-order trends, historical launch data and projected global demand.

According to the firm’s analysis, GTA 6 generated around $180 million in digital pre-orders across the United States and the five largest European gaming markets during the first week after pre-orders opened.

Using Rockstar’s historical player distribution, analysts estimate global digital pre-orders have already reached approximately $260 million. If current momentum continues, GTA 6 could easily become the biggest commercial launch in gaming history.

GTA 6 Launch Week Sales: Grand Theft Auto VI Has the Strongest Pre-Order Campaign on Record

Industry experts believe GTA 6 has achieved one of the most successful pre-order launches ever recorded for a video game.

Newzoo’s management consultant Ronan Patrick said, “The first week of preorders generated an estimated $260 million in global digital spending, the largest opening Newzoo has observed.”

He added, “For a title launching in November 2026, the scale of demand this far ahead of release is rare, even among the industry’s biggest franchises. Historically, preorder launches of this scale have been associated with the biggest commercial releases.”

Patrick also rejected viral social media claims suggesting GTA 6 had already crossed $1 billion in pre-orders, “Contrary to social media reports, GTA 6 has not done a billion dollars in preorders 21 weeks out. This is absurd.”

He further explained, “What the data actually shows is $180 million in digital preorder spend across the U.S. and the five largest European markets in the final week of June, translating to a global opening week of roughly $260 million, with most of the ramp still ahead.”

GTA 6 Launch Week Sales: How Does GTA 6 Compare With GTA 5?

The projections indicate GTA 6 could comfortably outperform Grand Theft Auto V, which set industry records after launching in 2013. GTA 5 generated nearly $800 million in its first 24 hours and crossed the $1 billion mark within three days, making it the fastest-selling entertainment product at the time.

More than a decade later, GTA 5 has sold over 230 million copies worldwide, making it the highest-selling premium video game in history.

Experts now believe GTA 6 could reach the $1 billion milestone even faster, thanks to stronger global demand, a significantly larger gaming audience and higher game pricing.

GTA 6 Launch Week Sales: Why Are Experts Predicting Such Huge Sales?

Several factors are driving the extraordinary sales forecasts for GTA 6.

The game arrives after a 13-year gap since GTA 5, making it one of the most anticipated titles in gaming history. Rockstar’s franchise already has a massive global fan base, while excitement has continued to grow following trailers, screenshots and the opening of pre-orders.

Another major factor is pricing. Rockstar has priced the Standard Edition at $80 and the Ultimate Edition at $100, increasing revenue from every copy sold.

Analysts also expect millions of players to purchase the game during launch week rather than waiting, creating one of the strongest opening sales performances the industry has ever seen.

GTA 6 Launch Week Sales: Grand Theft Auto 6 To Be Gaming’s Most Expensive Production

GTA 6 is also expected to become the most expensive video game ever developed.

Industry estimates suggest Rockstar Games and parent company Take-Two Interactive have spent between $1 billion and $1.5 billion on development, marketing and production.

That figure would comfortably exceed the reported budgets of several blockbuster games, including The Last of Us Part II, Horizon Forbidden West, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Concord.

Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick previously acknowledged the enormous investment, saying the project had been “expensive.”

GTA 6 Launch: When Will Grand Theft Auto VI Launch?

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI will launch on November 19, 2026. Initially, the game will be available only on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S consoles.

Pre-orders opened in late June and continue to attract strong demand worldwide. Analysts believe the majority of pre-order sales are still ahead, meaning revenue could increase significantly as launch day approaches.

GTA 6 Launch Week Sales: Can Grand Theft Auto 6 Rewrite Gaming History?

Market analysts believe GTA 6 has the potential to rewrite gaming history across multiple categories.

Besides possibly delivering the biggest launch week in gaming, the title could also become one of the fastest entertainment products ever to cross several major revenue milestones.

The combination of Rockstar’s reputation, global brand recognition, higher pricing and unprecedented player anticipation has positioned GTA 6 as a once-in-a-generation commercial release.

If projections prove accurate, the game could establish new benchmarks for launch revenue, player engagement and long-term sales.

GTA 6 Launch Week Sales: What to Expect?

With several months remaining before release, analysts expect GTA 6’s momentum to continue building through additional gameplay reveals, marketing campaigns and rising pre-orders.

While actual sales figures will only become clear after launch, industry experts agree that Rockstar Games is preparing for one of the biggest entertainment releases ever.

If current projections hold, Grand Theft Auto VI could redefine commercial success in the gaming industry and set records that may stand for years to come.
