New Renault Duster 2026 Launch: The Renault Duster is all set to make a comeback in India. Renault is introducing the completely new, third-generation Duster, and excitement is high ahead of its official reveal. The popular SUV, which once had a strong fan base, is returning with major upgrades in design, features, and technology.
The new Duster is expected to look tougher and more muscular than before. It may feature practical roof rails, redesigned front and rear bumpers, and a fresh set of alloy wheels. Compared to the earlier model sold in India, this version will have a more upright stance and a commanding appearance on the road, giving it a stronger SUV identity.
One of the biggest changes comes under the skin. The third-generation Duster will be based on Renault’s advanced CMF-B platform, replacing the older architecture. This upgrade allows better safety features, improved electronics, and compatibility with modern engines. It is also expected to enhance ride quality, stability, and overall comfort. Despite becoming more modern, the Duster is likely to retain its tough and durable character.
Inside, the SUV is expected to combine a modern layout with rugged styling. International versions show a layered dashboard design with sharp lines, hexagonal air vents, and a center console angled toward the driver. Similar design cues are likely in the India model.
The cabin may come in all-black or dual-tone color schemes. Feature highlights are expected to include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging, ADAS safety tech, and a 360-degree camera.
Interestingly, the India-spec model might get a panoramic sunroof, which is not available in the global version. Renault could also reveal a few surprise features during the official launch.
Renault has not confirmed engine details yet, but the new Duster will be a petrol-only SUV. The older diesel engine will not return.
Two petrol engine choices are likely. One is the 1.3-litre HR13 turbo-petrol, expected to deliver up to 156hp, paired with both manual and automatic gearbox options. The second engine could be the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol unit from the Kiger. While it produces 98hp in the Kiger, it may be tuned to around 118hp and 170Nm in the Duster. This smaller engine could come with manual and CVT transmission options.
The absence of a diesel option may be a drawback, especially since many rivals still offer diesel variants.
Earlier versions of the Duster offered AWD, but the new model is unlikely to have this feature. Adding AWD could increase costs significantly, and demand for AWD SUVs in India remains limited. Renault may consider a hybrid version in the future, which could make AWD more feasible, but for now it seems unlikely.
The new Duster will enter a highly competitive mid-size SUV market. Rivals such as the Tata Sierra and the updated Kia Seltos have raised expectations in this segment. Renault will need to price the Duster smartly to attract buyers.
The SUV is expected to start at around ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom), while top variants could go up to ₹20 lakh. The success of this model could play an important role in Renault’s future plans in India.
