Poco is set to kick off 2026 with a new mid-range smartphone launch in India. The company has officially confirmed that the Poco M8 5G will debut on January 8, strengthening its presence in the highly competitive 5G smartphone segment. The launch signals Poco's focus on sleek design, strong performance, and premium features at an accessible price.
The smartphone will be unveiled at 12 PM, and it will go on sale via Flipkart, where a dedicated microsite is already live. While Poco has confirmed only one device for the event, industry chatter suggests a Poco M8 Pro 5G could also be introduced later.
Poco confirmed the launch date through a teaser on X. The brand highlighted the phone's slim profile and lightweight build. According to the company, the device measures 7.35 mm in thickness and weighs 178 grams, making it one of the slimmest phones in its segment.

The teaser images show a square-shaped camera module placed centrally on the rear panel. The design looks familiar but polished, aligning with Poco’s recent design language.
Pricing remains unconfirmed. The Poco M7 launched at ₹9,999. However, given the upgraded display, chipset, and camera features, the Poco M8 5G could be priced above ₹15,000. Market expectations place it closer to the ₹18,000–₹20,000 bracket.
The Poco M8 5G is expected to arrive as a rebranded version of the upcoming Redmi Note 15 5G. If that happens, users can expect a feature-rich device.
The smartphone may feature a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel could offer up to 3,200 nits of peak brightness and come protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 7i.
Under the hood, the phone is likely to run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset. It may support up to 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage, offering smooth performance for daily use and gaming.
