Due to people’s personal/professional reasons to update their Aadhaar photo because it is old, unclear, or does not match their current appearance. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) allows Aadhaar photo updates, but the process may vary from online to offline, as it is slightly different from other updates.

Can You Update Aadhaar Photo Online?

Aadhaar photo can’t be updated/changed completely online, as UIDAI doesn’t give permission to photo uploads through the website. But you can book an online appointment after doing online booking to save time, and then visit an Aadhaar Seva Kendra for the photo update.

Aadhaar Update: Step-By-Step Guide to Book an Appointment Online

  1. You are required to visit the UIDAI website.
  2. Now, you need to click on Book an Appointment.
  3. After that, you are required to enter your Aadhaar number and verify it with OTP.
  4. Then, you need to choose your nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.
  5. Afterwards, you have to select the photo update service and confirm the appointment.

This online step helps reduce waiting time at the centre.

Aadhaar Update: How to Update Aadhaar Photo Offline

If you want to update your photo offline, you must visit an Aadhaar Enrolment or Aadhaar Seva Kendra. Follow these steps:

  1. Carry your Aadhaar card or Aadhaar number
  2. Fill out the Aadhaar correction form
  3. Your photograph will be taken at the centre
  4. Verify details using biometric authentication
  5. Pay a fee of ₹100

After submission, you will receive an Acknowledgement Slip with a URN to track status.

The updated Aadhaar photo is usually reflected within 7 to 30 days.
