David Beckham has publicly addressed the family rift with his son, Brooklyn, marking his first comments since the 26-year-old’s scathing social media post. The former football star spoke about children learning from “mistakes” on a financial news show, carefully responding to the deeply personal accusations made online.

What happened between Brooklyn Beckham and his parents?

On Monday, Brooklyn Beckham posted a lengthy statement on Instagram, breaking years of silence about his relationship with parents David and Victoria. He accused them of trying to control the family narrative and, more seriously, of attempting to sabotage his relationship with his wife, Nicola Peltz.

The post included specific allegations, such as his mother, Victoria, canceling Nicola’s wedding dress design last minute. He also claimed his parents pressured him to sign over the rights to his name before his 2022 wedding and that Victoria “hijacked” his planned first dance with his wife.

“I have never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,” Brooklyn wrote, stating he does not currently wish to reconcile with his family.

How did David Beckham respond?

David Beckham’s first public reaction came just hours after the post, though he initially avoided direct questions. At the World Economic Forum in Davos, he smiled and walked away when asked by a Sky News reporter about his son’s claims.

He gave a more substantive answer the following day during an interview on CNBC’s “Squawk Box.” While not naming Brooklyn directly, he spoke broadly about social media and parenting. “They make mistakes, but children are allowed to make mistakes. That is how they learn,” Beckham said. “You sometimes have to let them make those mistakes as well.”

The fallout also drew comments from others. Rebecca Loos, David Beckham’s former assistant who has claimed to have had an affair with him, supported Brooklyn online, writing, “The truth always comes out.” A source told Page Six that Brooklyn’s claims, however dramatic, are “true.”

What is the status of the family feud?

As of now, the situation appears unresolved. Brooklyn has stated he does not want to reconcile. Sources suggest the rift is deep, with one insider telling Page Six, “It’s too late … for now. [Brooklyn’s] had enough.”

Representatives for David and Victoria Beckham have not issued a formal statement in response to the allegations. David’s comments on CNBC represent the only direct public acknowledgment from the parents so far.
