The famous American songwriter, singer and guitarist John Mayer’s much awaited concert in India took an unexpected pause. The sudden cancellation has fans both surprised and disappointed. The concert was scheduled to take place in Mumbai on 22nd January 2026. As of now, the show has been postponed to February.

John Mayer’s concert postponed; What are the reasons?

The ticket booking platform Book My Show live has officially announced the update via social media platform. It states “Due to unforeseen circumstances, the John Mayer concert scheduled for January 22nd, 2026, has been postponed to February 11th, 2026, at Mahalaxmi Race Course, Mumbai.

Although anticipation for Mayer’s first-ever performance in India remains strong, the abrupt rescheduling has sparked concern, particularly among fans who had already arranged travel and accommodation for the original date.

While the actual reason has not been disclosed, some fans are guessing it due to the passing away of his friend and fellow musician, Bob Weir, on January 10.

What do the organisers say?

According to the organisers, ticket holders are not required to take any action if they plan to attend the concert on February 11, as existing tickets will remain valid.

However, the announcement did not specify whether refunds would be offered to those unable to attend the midweek show, leading to widespread frustration online.

Fans outraged as John Mayer postponed the show

Known for hit songs of John Mayer  like Free Fallin, No Such Thing, Your body is a wonderland and new light, the reaction of fans comes in multiple ways. Fans expressed their anger and demanded a complete refund. Few fans in fact questioned how they would reschedule their flights, as they had travelled solely for Mayer.

Several fans took to social media to express their frustration.

One user wrote, “Explain this to the airlines where we’ve already booked flights,” while another asked, “Who is going to refund both my flight and concert tickets? Where is the refund option?”

A fan also pointed out that with the show just a week away, many had booked non-refundable flights and accommodation, calling the potential financial losses unacceptable.

Tickets had been purchased by fans travelling to Mumbai from across India, many of whom had already adjusted work schedules and job commitments in advance.

Echoing similar concerns, another user wrote that February 11 falls midweek, adding, “This isn’t just about ticket costs. People like me are coming from different cities and have booked flights and hotel stays that aren’t easy to cancel. How can you not even offer a refund option?”
