JNU Admission 2026: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has started the admission process for Undergraduate (UG) and Certificate of Proficiency (COP) programmes for the 2026-27 academic session. Eligible candidates can submit their applications online through the official admission portal till July 22, 2026.
Which Courses Are Included In JNU Admission 2026?
JNU is offering admissions to several undergraduate and certificate programmes, including:
•   BA (Hons.) in Foreign Languages
•   BSc in Ayurveda Biology
•   Certificate of Proficiency (COP) programmes
These courses are offered through the School of Language, Literature and Cultural Studies and the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies. Admissions to these programmes will be based entirely on CUET UG 2026 scores.
What Is The Last Date To Apply?
Candidates can submit their online applications till July 22, 2026, through the official JNU admission portal. Applicants are advised to complete the registration process well before the deadline to avoid last minute issues.
Who Is Eligible To Apply?
For BA (Hons.) and BSc programmes, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination from a recognised board with at least 45% aggregate marks.
Students awaiting their Class 12 results are also eligible to apply. For Certificate of Proficiency (COP) programmes, candidates must have passed Class 12 or an equivalent examination with at least 45% marks. Students who completed Higher Secondary under the 10+1 pattern can also apply if they have completed the first year of a bachelor’s degree under the 10+1+3 system with the required marks. For BTech admissions, candidates will be selected through JEE Main, followed by JoSAA or DASA counselling.
Will There Be An Interview?
JNU has clarified that there will be no viva voce (interview) for admission to BA (Hons.), BSc or Certificate of Proficiency programmes. Admission will be granted solely on the basis of the merit list prepared using CUET UG 2026 scores.
What Is The Reservation Policy?
JNU will follow the Government of India reservation policy:
•   SC – 15%
•   ST – 7.5%
•   OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) – 27%
•   EWS – 10%
•   Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) – At least 5%
Candidates belonging to the OBC (NCL) category will receive a 10% relaxation in qualifying examination marks compared to the unreserved category.
How Will Merit Ties Be Resolved?
If two or more candidates secure the same merit, JNU will use the following tie-breaking criteria:
•   Higher Class 12 marks
•   Higher CUET UG or JEE Main score
•   Higher Class 10 marks
•   Preference will be given to candidates whose qualifying examination results have already been declared.
