The JoSAA counselling 2026 registration has started at josaa.nic.in. Candidates who have qualified JEE Advanced with the required cutoff marks can complete their registrations till June 11. A total of 67,323 engineering seats will be filled in around 138 participating institutes. Along with registrations, candidates can also fill out their choices of courses and colleges within the stipulated dates.
When JoSAA Counselling 2026 Started?
The counselling process for admission to IITs, IISc, NITs, IIITs, IIEST, and other GFTIs can be done from June 2 to 11. Candidates will be required to submit their personal details and pay the registration fee within the specified dates to complete the registration. Candidates who fail to register on or before the deadline ends will not able to participate in the counsellingÂ
Steps to Apply for JoSAA Counselling 2026
Qualified candidates have to register for the JoSAA counselling and complete it before the deadline ends. For choice filling, students have to login to the official website and fill their preferred choices of courses and colleges based on their priority. However, candidates can arrange or rearrange the filled choices before the last date. In case a student fails to lock the choices, the authority will automatically lock them. Once the choice filling window of JoSAA is closed, the authority releases the seat allotment result for the candidates on the basis of choice filled, merit list and availability of seats in the participating institutes.
Once the seat is allotted, the shortlisted candidates have to download the allotment letter and take the printout for the future reference. Upload the required documents and pay the prescribed fee to secure the seat at the allotted college. Candidates who failed to pay the fee and join the institute before the deadline, the seat will automatically be cancelled. However, candidates will be given three options during the seat allotment.Â

Freeze: Candidates can accept the allotted seat or can take an exit from the counselling process.

Float: this option will allow aspirants to accept the seat, but at the same time be eligible to upgrade for better choices in other institutes.

Slide: the option allows applicants to accept the seat and but at the same time be eligible for higher-preference programmes within the same institute.Â
