Mercedes-Benz S-Class Plug-in Hybrid
Mercedes-Benz is set to strengthen its electrified portfolio in India with the arrival of the S 450 e plug-in hybrid. The car comes with a powertrain that pairs a 3.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with an electric motor, producing a combined output of 429 hp and 680 Nm of torque. A 21.96 kWh battery pack supports the system and enables a claimed electric-only driving range of up to 109 km.
For buyers seeking a premium chauffeur-driven sedan with lower fuel consumption and reduced emissions, the S 450 e offers an interesting alternative to traditional petrol-powered luxury cars.Â
Jetour Traveller C-DM
The Jetour Traveller C-DM is expected to be among the first products linked to JSW Auto’s independent passenger vehicle ambitions in India. It is expected that the SUV could enter the Indian market in a rebadged form and target premium SUV buyers.
Internationally, the Traveller C-DM uses a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine working alongside electric motors. Depending on the variant, battery capacities can reach 43.24 kWh, allowing a claimed electric-only driving range of up to 162 km.
Its rugged styling and long electric range could make it appealing to buyers who want a large SUV capable of daily electric commuting while retaining the flexibility needed for long road trips. If competitively priced, it may emerge as an alternative to established premium SUVs in the segment.
JSW MG 520
JSW MG Motor is preparing to expand its SUV portfolio with its upcoming MG 520, a three-row family SUV expected to arrive in India in the coming months. The plug-in hybrid version is likely to feature a 1.5-litre petrol engine paired with an electric motor and a 20.5 kWh battery pack. According to international specifications, the SUV can travel up to 125 km in pure electric mode under the CLTC testing cycle.
This combination could make the MG 520 particularly attractive to families looking for lower running costs without sacrificing practicality. With seating for multiple passengers and the ability to operate as an electric vehicle during everyday commutes, the model may position itself as a compelling alternative to popular three-row SUVs currently on sale.
BYD Seal U
BYD has already established a presence in India’s electric vehicle market, and the upcoming Seal U will mark the company’s first plug-in hybrid offering in the country.
The SUV will use BYD’s DM-i hybrid technology, which is designed to maximise efficiency while maintaining strong performance. International versions feature a 1.5-litre petrol engine, a single electric motor and an 18.3 kWh battery pack.
BYD claims an electric-only driving range of up to 126 km, allowing many owners to complete daily commutes without using any petrol. For customers who want the advantages of electric mobility but are not ready to rely entirely on charging infrastructure, the Seal U could provide a practical solution.
Renault Duster Hybrid
The Renault Duster name continues to enjoy strong recognition among Indian buyers, and the next-generation model could become one of the most important hybrid SUV launches in the country.
Expected around the 2026 festive season, the new Duster is likely to be offered with both petrol and hybrid powertrain options. In international markets, Renault offers the SUV with the Hybrid 140 setup, which combines a petrol engine, electric motors and a compact battery pack. Kia Carnival Hybrid
Kia is also evaluating the possibility of bringing the Carnival Hybrid to India. The premium MPV is already known for its spacious cabin, comfort-focused design and family-friendly practicality.
Internationally, the hybrid version pairs a turbocharged petrol engine with an electric motor to improve fuel economy and reduce fuel consumption during city driving. This setup could be particularly beneficial in a large vehicle like the Carnival, where efficiency is often a concern.

Nissan Tekton Hybrid
Nissan is developing a new midsize SUV called the Tekton, which will share its platform and key components with the upcoming Renault Duster.
Despite the shared architecture, Nissan is expected to give the SUV a unique design and distinct cabin layout to create a separate identity. A hybrid version is reportedly being considered as part of the product plan.
