The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the final results of the Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2025, and Anuj Agnihotri has secured the prestigious All India Rank (AIR) 1. His achievement has drawn nationwide attention as the young candidate moved from a medical background to the top position in one of India’s toughest examinations.

Agnihotri, who is currently undergoing training as a probationer in the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service (DANICS), said he was still absorbing the news of his success.

“I was informed of the result just now. Currently, I am a probationer in the DANICS service. I graduated from AIIMS Jodhpur in 2023,” Agnihotri said soon after the civil services results were announced on Friday.

The UPSC Civil Services Examination selects officers for prestigious services such as the IAS, IPS, and IFS. In the 2025 examination cycle, a total of 958 candidates have been recommended for appointment to various central civil services.

Who is UPSC Topper 2025 Anuj Agnihotri?

Anuj Agnihotri comes from Rawatbhata in Rajasthan, a town known for its nuclear power facilities. Despite growing up in a relatively small town, he built a strong academic foundation and pursued higher education at one of the country’s top medical institutions.

His father works at the Nuclear Power Plant in Rawatbhata. Agnihotri completed his schooling in Rajasthan before moving to Jodhpur for higher studies. Later, he graduated with an MBBS degree from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur in 2023.

After completing his medical studies, he decided to shift his career path and prepare for the UPSC Civil Services Examination to work in public administration.

While the exact age of Anuj Agnihotri has not been officially highlighted in the result announcement, he belongs to the young group of candidates who cleared the exam shortly after completing graduation. His success soon after finishing medical studies shows the growing trend of young professionals entering civil services early in their careers.

Agnihotri completed his early schooling in Rawatbhata, Rajasthan. He studied in Atomic Energy Central School during his school years, where he developed a strong academic base.

Later, he pursued his senior secondary education in Kota. After school, he qualified for medical studies and secured admission to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur. He completed his MBBS degree there in 2023.

Instead of continuing with a career in medicine, he decided to prepare for civil services and joined DANICS as part of his administrative journey.

How Many Attempts Did Anuj Agnihotri Give for UPSC?

The UPSC 2025 examination was Agnihotri’s third attempt. His journey highlights the persistence required to succeed in the civil services examination, which involves multiple stages, including preliminary examination, mains examination, and a personality test (interview).

Despite the challenges of the highly competitive exam, he continued to prepare consistently until he achieved the top rank in the country.

The UPSC Civil Services Examination is conducted annually in three stages. For the 2025 cycle, the written mains examination was held in August 2025. Candidates who cleared the mains were called for the personality test, which took place in February 2026.

After completing all stages, the UPSC released the final merit list announcing the successful candidates. Along with Anuj Agnihotri securing AIR 1, Rajeshwari Suve M and Akansh Dhull secured the second and third ranks, respectively.
