Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan announced several major relief measures for the students during a press briefing following NEET paper leak row.

Following the cancellation of NEET exam 2026, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has said that the top priority of the government is to safeguard the future of students. While addressing the much-awaited press briefing, Dharmendra Pradhan assured students that malpractices will not be allowed to happen and hinted the test to be conducted in online mode from next year. 

What Dharmendra Pradhan on NEET Exam Fee and Choice of Exam City?

The Education Minister has stated that the exam fee for re-NEET will not be charged. Candidates who have already paid their NEET exam form fees will be allowed to select their preferred exam city again. According to the Dharmendra Pradhan, a one-week window will be provided to the students to choose their preferred exam city and later, the NTA will release the NEET intimation slip 2026 that allows candidates to check their allotted exam city. 

Dharmendra Pradhan on NEET 2026 Extra Time, Admit Card

The Minister assured students that extra 15 minutes will be given to them to fill the details in the NEET OMR sheet. It must be noted that the NTA offered extra 15 minutes to the NEET aspirants to accommodate the increased number of questions which stands at 200. However, the extra time was removed last year and the number of questions were also decreased to 180. Dharmendra Pradhan further stated that the NTA will release fresh NEET admit cards for the candidates. As per reports, the admit cards for the re-NEET will be issued from June 14, 2026.

When Will Re-NEET 2026 Be Conducted?

The NTA has announced that the revised NEET exam 2026 will be conducted on June 21, 2026.  While annoucing the revised exam date, the conducting body with the approval of government of India has decided to re-conduct NEET exam on June 21, 2026 (Sunday) in pen and paper mode. Candidates and parents are being asked to rely only on the official webiste for latest updates. The Minister has hinted that NEET exam will be shifted to online mode from next year. However, the official announcement by NTA is yet to be out.
