Unlike previous MoonSwatch launches, this edition will not be available in retail stores.
Instead, buyers must apply through the Electronic Swatch Timepiece Application (ESTA) between July 16 and July 21.
The selection process is far more detailed than a simple lottery. Applicants must complete a questionnaire containing 32 multiple-choice and open-ended questions covering Swatch and Omega history, space exploration and brand knowledge.
After the application window closes, Swatch will first shortlist applicants who correctly answer the factual questions. An internal panel will then evaluate the remaining entries and invite only 1,969 successful applicants to purchase the watch.
