A promotional sunscreen campaign during the Pakistan vs Australia ODI in Lahore went viral on social media, after videos showed volunteers and models applying sunscreen well after sunset. The whole thing, which happened at Gaddafi Stadium during the match, went viral pretty fast once people noticed that the sunscreen was being pushed and put on under those floodlights , while Pakistan was in the middle of their run chase. Many users were asking what the logic was behind using sunscreen at night. Soon enough, multiple clips from the ground started spreading across different platforms and then the jokes and memes followed.

What Happened here?

In one of those viral videos, two women are seen applying sunscreen right in front of a branded promotional display while spectators are watching the match ongoing. What grabbed everyone’s attention though was that this all happened during the evening part, when natural sunlight had already kind of left the scene. Netizens then started flooding the comment areas, laughing and joking a lot, some even saying in a sarcastic way that the ultraviolet rays from the floodlights must be insanely strong. And a few others went on about how this felt like one of the strangest sports marketing campaigns they had ever seen. Before long, what was supposed to be a normal promo moment turned into this full on online meme fest, racking up thousands of views, likes, and reactions.

Social Media Reactions

While dermatologists generally suggest sunscreen for shielding against ultraviolet radiation from the sun during the day, during outdoor time, the viral footage has ended up getting more laughter than real concern.

Australia Vs Pakistan

After Australia bounced back from a pretty rough start where they lost early wickets and ended up posting 231/9, they then managed to bowl Pakistan out for 190, even with Shadab Khan putting in a determined half century. Still, once the match ended, most of the online talk didn’t really stick to the cricket parts, but instead went straight to that sunscreen promotion, now viral, which left fans snickering and social media active with jokes even way after the last ball was delivered.
