The atmospheres of Neptune and Uranus contain high concentrations of methane. Methane is made of carbon and hydrogen. The planets experience powerful storms, which produce lightning that breaks apart methane molecules to release carbon atoms. The carbon atoms turn into solid diamond crystals because of extremely high pressure, which reaches thousands of times Earth's atmospheric pressure. The diamonds from these processes are thought to travel deeper into the center of the planets.

Does It Rain Diamonds on Venus?

As per the research, there is no diamond rain which are not expected to fall on Venus. But as per the scientist, Venus has very high temperatures and pressure, but its atmosphere is mainly composed of carbon dioxide, not methane. Diamond rains are impossible without methane, and the specific pressure conditions found in ice giants make diamond formation unlikely.
