CM Rekha Gupta Slams AAP Govt’s Neglect During Shalimar Bagh Visit, Highlights Unresolved Civic Issues

TSG On WeekdaysCM Rekha Gupta Slams AAP Govt’s Neglect During Shalimar Bagh Visit, Highlights Unresolved Civic Issues

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, visited the Shalimar Bagh area and pointed out that numerous issues have remained unresolved since the tenure of the previous Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, which she claimed had failed to undertake any significant development in the region.

While addressing the media, CM Gupta raised concerns regarding problems such as water scarcity, deteriorating road conditions, and the ongoing issue of tree cutting, all of which, according to her, have persisted since the AAP government’s rule.
“There are multiple concerns, including inadequate water supply, poor road infrastructure, and unchecked tree cutting, that have remained unaddressed since the last government. The areas I visited today are facing serious water-related issues. Additionally, stray dogs are becoming a problem across the city. We need to seek expert opinions and legal guidance on this matter. Our aim is to safeguard animal rights while also ensuring the well-being of the public,” CM Gupta stated.

Earlier, Chief Minister Gupta conducted an inspection of GTB Hospital, where she criticized the previous Aam Aadmi Party-led administration for the alleged mismanagement and wastage of healthcare equipment. She also expressed concern over the ‘poor state’ of health infrastructure in Delhi.

Following the recent presentation of the CAG report in the Delhi Assembly, CM Gupta claimed that medical equipment worth thousands of crores, as mentioned in the report, had remained unused since the Covid pandemic outbreak.

Furthermore, she alleged that rather than establishing genuine healthcare facilities, the previous AAP government had only constructed temporary buildings.
“The inspection process is still ongoing, and in this hospital alone, I have observed that the storage areas are packed with unused medical equipment,” the Chief Minister remarked while speaking to reporters.

“As per the hospital’s records, there are 458 oxygen concentrators, 146 ventilators, and 36,000 PPE kits. Additionally, masks, bedding, and several other medical supplies have been lying here untouched since the Covid outbreak. This is not an isolated case; similar stockpiles of unused equipment can be found in the storage rooms of nearly every hospital. I also mentioned in the assembly yesterday that medical equipment worth crores of rupees is gathering dust in hospitals without being put to any use. Even if experts were to assess the condition of this equipment, most of it would no longer be fit for use,” CM Gupta stated.
